Head on over to the Deer District and experience the home of the beloved Milwaukee Bucks! This is a great place to stop by for some photo opportunities, to grab "Drink Wisconsibly", or "Seek the Good" (Good City Brewing) swag! The Deer District is filled with bars and restaurants and is a fun quick stop while enjoying the city.....maybe you will be lucky and can enjoy a game on the outdoor jumbo screen.
Brady street is renown for its plethora of fun bars and restaurants. Try an Empanada over at La Masa, grab some cheese curds from the Hi-Hat/Garage, or jump on the shuttle from Jacks and head out to the ballpark (shuttle is free if you buy a drink). There are so many amazing stops....plus you are walking distance from the famous Wolski's Tavern, you haven't experienced true Milwaukee until you have earned your "I closed Wolski's" sticker.
Bay View holds a special place in our hearts. It was where we spent our Sundays watching the Chicago Bears (with a tv reserved for my Lions), and really started to feel included and welcome in this great city..(thanks Matt and Leslie). It also houses our favorite movie theater (The Avalon), and various other restaurants we highly recommend. If you are looking to shop local and get unique gifts, or décor, I spent all my money at The Sparrow. If you have time, definitely stop in and commemorate your trip!
One of our favorite things to do in the summer is get out on the Milwaukee River. The cream city views cannot be beat! Did we mention you can stop at some favorite local breweries and bars along the way?? Lakefront Brewery and City Lights Brewery both have docks available if you want to stop and grab a pint. Ask for a map and all the bars/breweries with docks will be included. Be sure to leave time to row by the Harley Davidson Museum, a great spot to take a rest and grab a picture.
For those staying in town a little longer, or maybe don't want then entire trip to center around old fashions....then head on up to Cedarburg. It is a cute little town, with wine tasting rooms and shops galore, located about 30 minutes north of the city. It is where we designed my custom engagement ring (thank you Wyndrose), and honestly, just one of our favorite places to spend a beautiful or snowy afternoon.
Jeremy and I met at a concert, so it is no surprise live music is one of our favorite ways to connect. Milwaukee really can't be beat for the annual Summerfest concert experience. Located in the permanent Summerfest grounds, this music festival has a little something for all music tastes, and the price of admission is super cheap. It is no coincidence we planned our wedding during one of the three Summerfest weekends this summer. We wanted to make sure we got to continue on with our Summerfest traditions. Stay tuned for more information of which night we will be scheduling in a Summerfest stop as part of the wedding weekend (keeping an eye on the lineups released in April). All are always welcome!
There are so many amazing spots to explore in Milwaukee. A few more ideas if the list above didn't satisfy.... 1). The Harley Davidson Museum-check out the history of the famous motorcycle, this museum is easily a few hours of your day. There is a lot of explore, and a delicious cafe attached. 2). Milwaukee Art Museum-Used for movie backdrops but also an amazing view of the lake while checking out some works of art. Walk out to the park right outside and enjoy the lighthouse and Lake Michigan. 3). Milwaukee Public Museum- great place to go and learn about history of the city. This museum will be closing and getting a facelift soon, so check out The Streets of Old Milwaukee before they disappear! 4). Brewer's Game- if the Brewers are in town then we definitely recommend heading out the stadium. Many of the bars in the city offer free shuttle services to and from the game, ask me if you want a specific one!
