Yes, you are correct: we are already technically married. If you know anything about us, you know that we're silly and unconventional. So, it's not a surprise to learn that we did this thing in the completely wrong order. To start, Savannah actually picked out and ordered her own engagement ring (it was a good deal and came with the matching wedding band!) Our intention was that when the ring came in, Matthew would take it and surprise Savannah with a proposal at a later date. Well, we already started referring to each other as "fiancé" and were actively starting to brainstorm wedding ideas. It's not a surprise that when the engagement ring finally arrived, Matthew immediately got down on one knee (What's the point of waiting?) From there, we started actively planning things and booking vendors for our New Year's Eve wedding - December 31, 2024. Well, life had some other plans. Health insurance sucks, medical care is expensive, and one of us (Matthew) was about to lose coverage. So, we did what any reasonable couple would do: plan a secret wedding and hard launch our marriage. On December 31, 2023, we were married, surrounded by the people we love most, and rang in the new year as a married couple. We know you're wondering, "If you're already married, then what are you even doing now?" Well, we love a party and a celebration (and had already put down an expensive deposit on a venue). So, we are going to have a re-wedding where we reaffirm our vows and celebrate our one-year anniversary with our friends and family. We hope you can join us for the year's best NYE party! xoxo Sav and Matt
