This one of the most profound buildings in African American history. We have been three-four times and still haven't seen it all. Be sure to start at the bottom and work your way up! Don't forget, check out Savannah's Mom, Jayne in one of the exhibits as well.
If you have never been to D.C. before you must go for a walk on the National Mall. Within the span of a few miles (bring your walking shoes) you can see/visit the Capitol Building, Smithsonian Museums, National Monument, Lincoln Memorial and Reflecting Pool and the tidal basin of the Potomac River. Even better, rent a bike at one of the city bikeshare locations! https://www.capitalbikeshare.com/
A new tourist spot on the Anacostia riverfront. It's gorgeous! Has lots of restaurants, bars, great fish market with take-out options, water fountains and shops. You can also take a water taxi around the river and over to Alexandria!
Best. Soul Food. Ever. Enough said. It's in the U Street area where there are a lot of bars, dining options and great shopping. There is some seating at Oohs & Aahs but we have never done it! And be warned..."the itis" is coming!
Jaris and Savannah LOVE farmer's markets! For good food, sweet treats and some of DC's finest wares, visit Eastern Market in the Capitol Hill neighborhood. There's even a metro stop!
Great brunch that offers a pretty awesome view of the river, brunch bowl cocktail and delicious food!
Kopper and I almost died on a paddle boat here during a storm. Good times!!
We took engagement photos here!!
Forgot something at home? Believe it or not, there are no malls in DC! The closet mall and largest gathering of shops in the area is Pentagon City in Arlington. Driving it's about 15 minutes from downtown. On the metro, it's the Pentagon City stop on the Yellow line.
In addition to ice cream - Jaris and I love cupcakes! Now, our personal favorite is Sprinkles which is also on M Street. Second is Baked & Wired off M Street as well. However, lots of people love Georgetown Cupcakes so enjoy!
