The ceremony will be outside and the reception mostly inside, but we will also take advantage of the balcony overlooking the Mississippi.
Weather in Minnesota can be unpredictable. Memorial Day weekend is often warm (and in the case of rain we will move the ceremony inside). We recommend dressing in layers so you can add or take off as needed.
We have four kids, so yes–kids are welcome in all of the wedding and reception festivities! Also, we also have four kids, so if you want to leave the kids with a sitter so you can put on fancy clothes, order a cocktail, and dance your heart out, we get that too.
The Reception will feature dancing with music by the Riverside All Stars (www.riversideentertainmentmn.com).
Minneapolis/Saint Paul International Airport is just a few miles from Raspberry Island. Uber/Lyft rides from the airport to Raspberry Island (or to the blocked hotels) are generally about $30. Union Depot Station–the last Lightrail stop on the Green Line–is also nearby. Just take the Blue Line from the Airport to Warehouse District/ Hennepin Ave Station, then switch to the Green Line and go all the way to Union Depot.
Raspberry Island is on the Mississippi River on the Southeast side of Downtown St Paul. To get onto the Island by foot, walk partway across the Wabasha Street Bridge and take the stairs down from the East side of the bridge. By car or bike the Island can be accessed from the Southeast side of the river. Go to Wabasha Street then proceed to the Southeast side of the river (immediately across from Downtown Saint Paul), turn East onto Fillmore Avenue (turning West, it would be called Water Street), then North (toward the river) on Harriet Island Boulevard. Follow that around until you see the bridge to the Island (on the right).
There is parking on the Island and you are welcome to leave your car there overnight if need be. If Island parking is full, street parking is free on Fillmore Avenue and Harriet Island Boulevard (behind West Side Flats) on the weekends. The hotels are both within a few blocks of Raspberry Island.
