FAQs

Question

We want to see the waterfalls!

Answer

If you are planning on visiting the Columbia Gorge famous waterfalls please reserve a waterfall corridor permit at https://www.oregon.gov/odot/waterfall-corridor-permits/Pages/default.aspx Permits are $2 and can be purchased up to two weeks ahead of time. Slots are timed for one hour but you can stay past your time slot- if you move your car after your time slot has expired there may not be room for you to park again. If you plan on ONLY visiting Multnomah Falls, you only need a Multnomah Falls I-84 permit. We suggest an early time slot.

Question

What’s the attire?!

Answer

Cocktail and Garden Attire: Floral prints, suits in lighter hues, fun hats, and dressy jumpsuits. No predominately white attire, but attire with white is okay (especially flowers!) Attire such as cocktail dresses, dark jackets and slacks, are also appropriate. Wedding colors of blues, greens, and purples, are encouraged but not necessary. This information can also be found on the event details page and in the rsvp page if you hit the details drop down.

Question

10:00pm is early! Where is the after party?

Answer

We are aware that 10:00pm may be early for some but the venue requires everyone to be offsite by 10:00pm or we do get FINED! Please don't do that to the Bride and Groom! While there is no formal after party, we recommend Oak Street Pub or Whiskey Tango. Both are within a 10-20 minute walk of the shuttle stop. There is also a beautiful strip along the water front where the hotels are located which includes plenty of breweries. The Best Western Plus also has a very nice hotel bar.

Question

Will there be transportation to the venue?

Answer

Shanghai Shuttle service will be providing shuttle service from ONLY the Best Western Plus location. You do NOT need to be a hotel guest to use the shuttle service, anyone can find public parking at or near the hotel. The shuttle will stop at the hotel at approximately 3:15 pm. The shuttle will pickup guests from the venue at approximately 9:45 pm. The shuttles can only hold 40 people per trip and approximately 40 people expressed a need for the shuttle via the RSVP. If you did not RSVP that you plan to use the shuttle then there is not room for you on the bus! Please contact the bride and groom if you are uncertain if there are spots on the bus for you and your party. Carpooling is an option if you have a car, cars may NOT be left overnight at the venue. Ubers and Lyfts are NOT available due to the County Ordinance so do not rely on that option. Limited taxi cabs are available in the area and may be required to be booked ahead of time.

Question

Driving directions?

Answer

We always suggest checking google maps first, but if you are coming from Hood River, use the second driveway (after the mailboxes) if driving yourself; the first driveway is for farm vehicles and is not the venue. There should be a sign outside the driveway as well.

Question

How far is the airport?

Answer

Portland airport is about an hour from Hood River

Question

What’s the weather like?

Answer

The weather will be warm but should not be humid, please bring a light layer as it will be windy! Fire smoke and haze is also possible during this time of year so plan accordingly if you are part of a sensitive group.

Question

What about fires?

Answer

June-Sept. is fire season on the west coast, before and road travel please check the fire maps located here for any fire information and make educated decisions, fires are unpredictable! Also please check trip check for road closures and routes which is common due to fire damage. https://gacc.nifc.gov/nwcc/information/firemap.aspx https://tripcheck.com/

Question

When should I look into reservations?

Answer

The area is a tourist area and it is recommended that arrangements are made around 6-8 months in advanced. We suggest you have an idea of where you are staying before RSVP-ing, the RSVP will ask you where you are staying.

Question

Where will we stay?

Answer

If you are staying for multiple nights we recommend renting a house with Air BNB or VRBO for a few nights. There are plenty of options available but you should book early! You may also want to consider splitting a house with other guests. Recommended hotels are listed on the travel page and are up to the guest to book, room blocks are not available.

Question

What happens if it rains during the wedding?

Answer

The reception area has a roof and is closed on two sides, so no worries!

Question

Group rates?

Answer

If you know others that are attending we suggest you look into booking flights together for a group rate. This will also be helpful in car rentals and living accommodations. Flying together, sharing cars, and splitting a house/hotel is sure to be a fun and financially friendly experience!
