Once upon a time, Rachel approached her church pastor at a cook-out and complained about the lack of available single men in their church. Pastor Vic didn't mention it in that moment but he had a single cousin, Dan, who came to mind. Vic reached out to Dan asking if he was interested in meeting Rachel and Dan was initially hesitant but eventually caved. Dan got Rachel's number from Vic and called her. Despite neither having seen a picture or knowing anything about each other, they talked for 4 hours straight on that first call. The rest is history!

Rachel knew that Dan had been working on a ring design and had asked her parents for their blessing, but she didn't know exactly when the proposal was happening. They planned a date on September 10th in Shenandoah National Park that was a recreation of their first date when Dan kissed her the first time. While the romantic nature of recreating their first kiss should have been a clue for Rachel, Dan was so calm and collected during the hike, Rachel was convinced it wouldn't happen that day. When they arrived at the spot where they shared their first kiss, she leaned in to recreate it but, much to her surprise, Dan went down on one knee and pulled out a ring!
