A visit to the Mendenhall Glacier is always recommended when visiting Juneau. There are plenty of hiking options around the visitor center area. A few trails near the visitor center area we recommend are below.
Loop trail through a beautiful forest. ~3mi ~700ft Gain
Out and Back ~4mi ~600 ft gain to some nice views of the side of the glacier.
A nice flat walk out to the impressive Nugget Falls. Out and Back ~2mi 100ft gain
A beautiful hike back into Perseverance valley up behind downtown Juneau. Out and Back, can make it a short hike to Edner falls or push back into Granite Creek Basin for stunning valley views. ~3-8mi 500-1,200 ft gain.
If we get beautiful clear weather, getting up higher is a must! A hike up Mt Juneau can be challenging but so worth it. ~7mi out and back ~3500ft gain
A favorite hike of ours. This is a easy flat out and back trail leading out to stunning ocean views. This is the spot where Nathan proposed to Grace. ~4mi out and back
If weather is clear, getting up in a floatplane is such an amazing experience to see the beauty in the area!
Take a tram ride up to Mt Roberts for amazing hikes and views above the alpine. Also shopping and a restaurant up top. Recommend doing this as long as the cloud ceiling is above the tram house.
A fantastic distillery in downtown Juneau. Offers Gin at all times, whiskey when available. Owned and operated by our good friends. Nathan worked at the distillery when his work was halted in 2020.
Great beers and food at a local microbrewery owned and run by our friends!
Great fish tacos! A highlight of Juneau's food scene
