Fantastic Indian restaurant - you will probably need reservations. They have another location in West End that is sometimes easier to get into, if your heart is set on it but you missed the boat. Order the Palak Chaat.
Vietnamese cuisine in DC's newly developed wharf area, with lots of other attractions in walking distance. The menu changes frequently, but it's all amazing (that said - make sure to order a cocktail and get the fried chicken if it's on the menu).
As is traditional.
Local fast casual Korean chain with great bibimbap - one of Sarah Jane's favorites. Make sure to get the purple rice!
A healthy walk from our venue and any nearby hotels, this hip and recently expanded shopping and dining area has something for everyone. We especially love A. Litteri, a great (but cramped!) Italian deli with great shopping and sandwiches.
One of the few zoos in the United States with pandas in residence - a must for anyone with kids! The zoo is a little smaller than most major cities', so it's easy to see in a day. Zoo tickets (which are free!) are available for reservation on the zoo's website.
Just off the national mall, this is the home of DC's famous cherry blossoms! While Peak Bloom is usually a few weeks before our wedding date, there's a good chance you'll be able to catch a few blossoms still on the trees.
Get tickets in advance!
Free Smithsonian museum with lots of great historical artifacts and pop culture. All of the Smithsonian museums on the mall are free and well worth a visit, though!
