It has become legendary; The Discovery Channel’s Emmy Award winning television series, Deadliest Catch. And on season two of that program, viewers watched in amazement as a crab boat was hit by a massive rogue wave, rolling it onto its side during a treacherous storm. That boat was the Fishing Vessel Aleutian Ballad, and today you have the opportunity to step on board and into the amazing world of Alaskan crab fishing. The ship has a fascinating and colorful history as a commercial crab fishing boat. When you step on deck for the tour, you may just find yourself sailing with several captains and crew members you know from the television series. A few noticeable differences are apparent; comfortable protected seating for guests and a “live tank” where you can enjoy an up close view of the days catch.
