We met in college. Pierce was a junior and Meghan was a sophomore and we were study partners for a Philosophy in Logic class where we spent hours in the study room of the dorms and libraries making up funny ways to remember logical fallacies. We studied really hard for two people who were doing well in the class--clearly we really liked spending time together! Pierce swears that he did things all the time to impress Meghan but she was far too oblivious to notice--her blinders were too effective! He showed her how he could play the piano and made her laugh constantly but Meghan always just said, "That was fun--see you to study for exams next week!" Eight years later, Meghan was teaching a Career Decision Making class at a university. The students had a project to interview someone in a career field of interest. One of her students wanted to speak to a lawyer but didn't have any connections to one. Meghan posted on Facebook to ask for anyone who is or knows a lawyer to reach out to me to help a student with an assignment for her course. Pierce reached out and said, "It's been a long time! I am actually a lawyer now and can help!" Texting and catching up ensued until Meghan suggested a virtual happy hour (Pierce was in Seattle and Meghan was in Denver). The moment Pierce popped on the video, Meghan thought, "Uhhhhhhhhhhhh ok, he's cute! Was he always this cute?" She got the butterflies and asked him if he ever wanted to come out the visit Colorado "since he had never seen it before". Pierce responded saying that he would love to and that he has "always wanted" to visit Colorado. We planned and planned (by that we mean Meghan planned and planned) for his trip out to Colorado. The infamous line that sealed the deal that this was not just two college friends from the past meeting for a weekend trip in Colorado, went as follows: Text from Meghan: "Well you are such a catch, I hope you know that!" Text from Pierce: "Well if I am a catch, I hope you're fishing!"
