We met at work when Lori was considering joining the team that Cameron was currently working on at S&P. Needless to say Cameron recommended that Lori join and we soon discovered we were both studying for the final level of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) exam. Lori mentioned that she was coming into the office on weekends to study and before long Cameron started coming in as well. While perhaps not the most idyllic setting, we spent hours and hours together chatting and studying (and chatting some more) over the course of six months. They say that a good friendship is the best basis for a successful relationship, and we couldn't agree more. After wrapping up our exam things became official and four months later we took our first international trip together to Norway which led to our love of hiking together. And yes, we did both pass the test :)
In May of 2023 we took a short weekend trip to Vermont with plans for a few hikes, some nice food, and maybe a stop at one or two breweries. The first morning we woke up early and started up Mt. Mansfield, the highest mountain in Vermont. Unbeknownst to Lori, Cameron had the ring tucked away in the camera bag and was waiting for the right moment to pop the question. Roughly halfway up we came to a beautiful clearing in the trees with a view of the rolling hills in the background. Cameron asked Lori to go pose so he could set up the camera and phone on the tripod (and try to inconspicuously get the ring out, though perhaps more conspicuously than not). Cameron walked over to Lori and they posed together for a picture before Cameron got down on one knee, saying something probably very eloquent and poetic, and then popping the question. She said yes, and well the rest is history.
