Head out to the Coast! (45 minute drive). A beautiful drive where you'll pass by Guerneville, the Korbel Winery, Armstrong Woods State Park and Duncans Mills, a former lumber mill town, now a small but sweet little shopping area. When you hit the coast, Goat Rock Beach is the first of many beach parks heading south along Highway 1 towards Bodega Bay.

Nearby are: - Spring Lake Regional Park A beautiful setting that contains swimming, fishing, a non-motor boat lagoon and lake and over 10 miles of multi use trails. Great day hikes. - Crane Creek Regional Park is mostly flat trails along Crane Creek (yes, the same Crane family of our barn fame) with many wildflower and raptor sightings probable. - Riverfront Park 2 miles from our home in Windsor, has 2 lakes, flat and rolling trails. - Annadel State Park is a huge mountain park with trails and a lake. A fishing license is needed to fish. - Armstrong Woods State Park A spectacular preserve of 805 acres of the stately and magnificent Sequoia sempervirens, commonly known as the coast redwood tree. Located in Guerneville, it's about a half hour drive.
Sonoma County is a great destination for wine aficionados. With the Russian River Valley, Dry Creek Valley, Alexander Valley and Sonoma Coast just 4 of the 17 wine regions present here, you will find over 400 wineries to chose from. From large production wineries such as La Crema and Rodney Strong to small, artisan-style gems, just about all of them welcome you for a tour or tasting at their winery. If you're more about the wine and less about visiting the actual wineries, Healdsburg is home to over 30 tasting rooms.
Charles Schulz Museum - a fabulous, whimsical museum with exhibits based on famed cartoonist Charles M. Schulz, Peanuts and other comics. View the largest collection of original Peanuts art work in the world. There is a theater to watch animated Peanuts specials as well as documentaries.
