We kindly ask that you RSVP by July 1, 2021.
Please see our Registry page of the website for details, however, we strongly discourage all of our wedding guests from purchasing gifts. We understand that flying to Scotland is already expensive, and your presence on our big day is the best gift we could have asked for!
The ceremony will begin at 3 p.m., so we ask that all guests arrive at the chapel no later than 2:45 please. There will be a lovely string quartet to keep you entertained until the ceremony begins.
The dress code for the Ceremony and Reception is Semi-Formal, meaning Tuxes and gowns are welcome, and so are suits and cocktail dresses. The Rehearsal Dinner dress code is Cocktail Attire, meaning cocktail dresses, little black dresses, dressy jumpsuits, suits, dark jackets, and slacks are acceptable. Ladies, do not feel like you have to wear heels at any point! Nice flats are more than okay.
Absolutely! If you would like to rent a kilt for the wedding, please let us know as soon as possible. We will get you in contact with our wedding planner who can send you a wide variety to choose from. She can help you find your family tartan, or you can just wear a solid kilt if you don't feel comfortable wearing a tartan. The kilts come in a variety of colors and fabric choices. You will be able to pick up and return your kilt in Edinburgh.
If you want to bring a guest, we do ask that you please contact us first, as we are trying to keep the ceremony rather intimate. Please also include them on your RSVP, so that we have an accurate count for catering.
Unfortunately no, we will not have an open bar since we're not having a full reception. But before you get too upset, yes there will be drinks served at the Reception Dinner, and the castle's Library Bar is definitely worth stopping by.
If you choose to stay at Dalhousie, the chapel is right inside the castle. If you are staying in Edinburgh, the castle is only an 8 mile cab/Uber ride away.
Throughout this journey, we have had the wonderful assistance of our Wedding Planner, Lisa Bauer, founder of Tartan Weddings. She encourages all of our family and friends to contact her with any and all questions or concerns. Whether you need help finding the best flight plan or just want some tips on good spots to hit up while you're in Scotland, she's your lady!
