Here you can find Disney World's main website where there is more information about the parks within Disney World: Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, Epcot, and the water park, Blizzard Beach (Typhoon Lagoon remains closed at this time), rides, shows, dining, other recreational activities...basically everything! Have fun exploring!
This won't just be any old magical trip to Disney World. Our wedding happens to fall during what Disney is calling The World's Most Magical Celebration. Maybe you have seen some commercials for it! October 1, 2021 is Walt Disney World's 50th Anniversary and that celebration is continuing well past that day and will still be going on in November for our wedding! You can check this link to see what Disney has planned for that time so far and regularly check back to see more updates as they come.
When we decided to postpone our original April wedding date, one of the reasons we wanted November (besides the weather) is that Disney World starts celebrating Christmas immediately following Halloween…and guys, there is nothing like being in Disney during Christmas! The normal magic you feel there is tenfold during the holidays. One way you can celebrate Christmas in Disney is by attending the Very Merriest After Hours. This is a separate ticketed event that takes place in Magic Kingdom after the park closes from 9 pm to 1 am on select dates in November and December. Tickets on the dates surrounding our wedding are either $169 or $189. You can find more information in the link attached. And don’t worry, if you choose not to or cannot attend one, you will still feel the Christmas magic while you are in Disney!
Home to some of the best restaurants, bars, and shops on property, Disney Springs is the "downtown" area of Disney World. There are so many fun, special, and unique things to see and do here. Click on the link to learn more! Park tickets are not required. There is regular bus service from resorts and parks to Disney Springs.
Disney World has two water parks on property, Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon. As of May 30, 2021, only Blizzard Beach has reopened. If you want to go, you can either purchase a Park Hopper Plus ticket which is a park hopper ticket that includes water parks (Regular Park Hopper tickets do not include water parks) or a water park ticket. The less expensive option would definitely be the Park Hopper Plus option over the single water park ticket. Attached is the link to learn more about the water park.
The Boardwalk is one of Disney's deluxe resorts and is also a popular spot on property for guests to visit. Click on the link to learn more!
Disney is known for their world class restaurants. You can learn more from the first link provided. While reservations are not necessary for quick service restaurants, they are absolutely recommended for sit down restaurants. Reservations can first be made 60 days out either through our recommended travel agent, the My Disney Experience App, or through the Disney World website at this link: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dining/#/reservations-accepted
There are a few beautiful, championship golf courses on Disney property. Find the attached link to learn more.
Disney mini golf is the best! We always try to play a round on our vacations. See website attached to learn more. There is no direct transportation to the golf courses, so if your resort is not within walking distance, Uber or Lyft would be the best option.
There are a few spas on Disney property for you to enjoy. As of May 30, 2021, Senses - a Disney spa (which has locations at Grand Floridian and Saratoga Springs) remain unavailable during Disney's phased reopening. However, Mandara Spa, located at the Dolphin hotel, is open. The Dolphin hotel is part of the Swan & Dolphin resort which is located in the Epcot resort area, next to Boardwalk and Yacht and Beach Club. If/when Senses reopens, we will post an update here. Health clubs (gyms) at the resorts are open. You can learn more about Disney's spas and health clubs in the provided link.
Yes, sometimes we do cheat on Disney and go to Universal, another theme park located in Orlando. Universal Studios is not associated with Disney at all. It is a completely separate and different theme park. Similar to how Disney World has four parks, Universal has two, Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. You can drive there in under twenty minutes from Disney World property. If you do not have a car with you, the best option would be to use Uber or Lyft.
Another local theme park in Orlando is SeaWorld. SeaWorld is also a completely different theme park from Disney World and is within a ten to fifteen minute drive from Disney property. If you do not have a car with you, you can use Uber or Lyft to get there.
If you are looking for a completely different, non-theme park, but still awesome experience, check out the Kennedy Space Center. Located about an hour from Walt Disney World
Since Walt Disney World is in Orlando, that means it is not too far from Downtown Orlando. In fact, it is about a twenty minute drive if you wanted to go and explore the city. Check out the website included for more information!
