Hotel

Best Western Seven Seas

411 Hotel Circle South
San Diego, CA 92108
 (619) 291-1300

This is the hotel we recommend you stay at if you are flying in to San Diego before the wedding. This will be the meet point where we will rendezvous and have a shuttle and people carpooling to get down to the wedding. You don't have to stay here, but this is where everyone will be meeting.

Travel Note

No shuttles provided by hotels from the San Diego Airport.

Some of you had asked what hotels included a shuttle service from the airport to the hotel. I called around and it doesn't seem like anyone provides this service anymore. Your best options are Uber and taxis.

Rendezvous Point to Carpool or Shuttle Down to the Wedding from San Diego

Still in the process of sorting out transportation. So far: The rendezvous point will be Best Western Seven Seas 411 Hotel Circle South, San Diego, California 92108. We are hoping that most people be able to carpool. I want to start a group email to connect those willing to drive with those who can't. Please let me know what you are thinking of doing.

We Recommend Spending the Night in Mexico

After the wedding, usually guests head home. However Sunday nights are the very worst for traffic getting across the border. We highly encourage our guests to book a room in Rosarito for the night and head back to San Diego after rush hour traffic Monday morning. See hotels below.

Hotel

City Express Rosarito

364 Carretera Libre Tijuana
Rosarito, B.C. 26040, Mexico
 01 800 248 9397

OUR #1 RECOMMENDATION FOR WHERE YOU SHOULD STAY Easy and refundable booking. Recommended by YWAM, this hotel is in Rosarito just 10 minutes south of the campus. Rooms starting at $78 a night. The website has an English option if you go to the top left corner of the page and click the USA flag. Then type in the dates you want to stay and Rosarito as the city you want to go to. Hotel

Hotel Real del Mar Golf Resort

Escenica Tijuana-Ensenada
Tijuana, B.C. 22565, Mexico
 01 664 631 3670

Slightly more complicated booking. You are required to book Friday and Saturday night if you want to book a Sunday. This seems to be a trend among resort hotels in Mexico to ensure they have business the whole weekend. Located 15 minutes North from the YWAM campus between Playas and Rosarito. Prices starting around $95 a night. Note for People Driving Themselves Down

We need drivers. If you are planning on renting a car, or driving your own please let me know. We would love to be able to carpool guests down. If you are flying in there are rental companies who have policies that allow driving into Mexico. I know Budget and Alamo for sure do this. Possibly driver and carpooling passengers can share the cost of the rental. If you want to drive your own car you need Mexican insurance. It is pretty inexpensive and be bought for only a day or two. - Bravo Insurance is who USAA recommended on their website. http://bravomexinsure.com/ - Sanborns is the company I have insurance on my car with. https://www.sanborns.com/mexican_insurance/?gclid=CjwKCAjwoKDXBRAAEiwA4xnqv8cBCrT2V3dD1_LwVTSDkQkv_-m6RCPK8lrmnQpwf7L2-Sq-7ddJwRoCeewQAvD_BwE

Shuttle

We are trying to figure this out. Currently it looks like all the campus vans from Kyle's school are busy during the times we would need them. I am reaching out to my church and looking into a few other options, however if you are willing to drive or carpool, that is the easiest option right now.

Rental Car

Uber

Tijuana, B.C., Mexico

For those who want to do some exploring in Mexico and don't have your own car, Uber is a great reliable way to travel around.

Written directions to wedding location part 1

When you approach the Mexico border, the 805 and 5 merge into one on the US side. Stay in/move to the far right lane(s). There will be a section where the road becomes very curvy so you have to drive slowly. Remain in the far right lane and go to the far right border crossing/entry lane(s). Go through the photo lane and past the border guard, hopefully they don’t want to look in the car. Once you clear that part continue to stay to the far right lane. You will approach the highway which splits. Two lanes go to the right lane to Playas which goes up a ramp and over the canal/river. Follow that road along the border and always stay to the right. You’ll go up a hill and there will be a tractor in the middle of the road and everyone will be jockeying for a lane. It doesn’t matter what lane you’re in. Keep going on the main road. Once you reach the top of the hill and get past the congestion you’ll go downhill and again stay in the right lane and it’ll narrow to one lane.

Written directions to wedding location part 2

Curve to the right and merge onto another road that goes parallel to the border for a while, always following the signs that say to Playas (don’t go to Tecate). Now you are approaching the town of Playas and you want to be in the left lane following the signs to Ensanada and Rosarito and you will now be on the toll road. Follow that to the toll booth and pay $2.05 USD. Continue along the highway down the coast, 5-10 minutes. After you pass under the bright orange bridge start looking for the San Antonio exit. Don’t take the San Antonio nte. exit. The plain San Antonio exit is just before a white bridge; exit to the right, then curve left and cross over the highway on the bridge. Once you get over you will jog a little to the left and then the right but basically you go East on a dirt road past a Police container and up the hill to the base which you should be able to see on your left. Go through the gate and head up the steep hill and park past the motor homes and RVs.
