Sorry this wasn't listed on the invitations! Things have been a little crazy over here. The wedding ceremony and reception will be held on the YWAM campus where Kyle is currently going to Bible school. The campus is located 20 minutes south of the border between Tijuana and Rosarito. -Here is a link to see the location in google maps. https://goo.gl/maps/BEQbNJd7No62 -Here is a link to the YWAM website, explaining more about the location and YWAM's presence in Mexico. https://www.ywamsandiegobaja.org/locations#sadm
Yes. We will be helping coordinate reliable and safe transportation and accommodation for all of our guests. The road to the base is a coastal toll highway that is well maintained and safe to travel. The campus is gated with 24 hour guards, and nightly security patrols.
Yes. It is required to have a current passport, or passport ID card to travel to Mexico. If you don't have a passport here is the government website to help you apply for one. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/apply-renew-passport/how-to-apply.html *Passport ID cards can only be used at land border crossings and sea ports-of-entry from: Canada, Mexico, The Caribbean, and Bermuda. Passport cards cannot be used for international air travel. For more information go to https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/apply-renew-passport/card.html
Book flights into San Diego International Airport. We are not coordinating any pickups or shuttles from the Tijuana airport.
Plan on staying minimum one night after the wedding. Staying longer is up to you. By the time the wedding ends in the evening, border crossing traffic will be at it's peak. On a Sunday night the wait at the border can be up to 5 hours to travel less than 3 miles. We would encourage our guests to book a hotel for the night and drive or be shuttled back over the border the next morning after rush hour. I have listed some hotels on the travel section of the website.
See hotel recommendations on the travel page of this website.
Yes. If you plan on driving your own car just be sure you buy Mexican insurance. It's not expensive and you can buy as few as one or two days coverage. -Bravo Insurance is recommended by USAA. http://bravomexinsure.com/ -Sanborns is the company I have insurance through. https://www.sanborns.com/mexican_insurance/?gclid=CjwKCAjwoKDXBRAAEiwA4xnqv8cBCrT2V3dD1_LwVTSDkQkv_-m6RCPK8lrmnQpwf7L2-Sq-7ddJwRoCeewQAvD_BwE
The YWAM campus is about a 50 minute drive from the San Diego Airport without traffic. Once across the border the campus is about 20 minutes South.
You can try, however I don't recommend it. On a Sunday night sometimes the wait is up to 5 hours to get across the border. It's all the traffic of people visiting friends, family, and partying over the weekend, driving back up for work Monday morning. If you don't have absolute commitments Monday morning I would encourage you to get a hotel for the night and drive back up the next morning after the work traffic rush. Traffic should be clearing up by 10am.
