Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Kimberly Roach and Brendan Kennedy
We're so excited to share a few of our favorite places with you! This is a mix of restaurants, beaches, spas, and other fun activities. If you're able to, we HIGHLY recommend you extend your stay in Tulum so you can explore even more! As mentioned, Tulum is split into two parts - the beach strip + Tulum center. If you want any other suggestions, let us know <3 You can also reach out to our wedding planner, Gwen on WhatsApp +52 984 114 9765 or our wedding concierge Helen on WhatsApp +52 984 167 7086

Taqueria La Chiapaneca

It looks like a hole in the wall...but it's the BEST tacos al pastor IN THE WORLD! Get the gringas al pastor and ask for pineapple. In Tulum Center.

Botanica Garden Cafe

Yummy healthy breakfast and picture-worthy. Cash only. Tulum center.

Del Cielo Cafe

Another yummy breakfast spot. Tulum center.

Burrito Amor

Clean and healthy burritos for lunch/snack. Tulum center

Tú Tulum

A delicious spot for dinner and cocktails in Tulum center. Dimly lit, date night vibes.

WILD Tulum

A delicious place for dinner on the beach strip. Get the beet salad!

Treehouse Tulum

Another delicious dinner spot on the beach strip. On Sunday's they have a DJ on the roof

Casa Villa Alquimia

This is one of the few places that gives you affordable beach access without staying at the hotel! In October 2023 it was $20 min spend. A lot of hotels will charge $60-100 for minimum spend for their beach club access. Villa Las Estrellas is also $20. La Zebra is another affordable option at $30 min spend. Beach strip.

Papaya Playa Project (PPP)

Hotel + party spot. We'll be partying with you on our wedding weekend, but if you extend your stay this is a great place to check out.

Yaan Healing Sanctuary

Spa, massages, reiki, sound healing, facials, and more with a Mayan twist. Beach strip

Espiritu Wellness

For temazcal, energy work, yoga, massages. In Tulum center

Mayan Clay Spa

For those looking for a unique massage experience. You will literally turn into mud/clay. Beach strip.

Tulum Jungle Gym

If you are the type of person who works out on vacation ;) Beach strip.

Holistika Tulum

Hotel + Free jungle art walk. Short dirt roads. Tulum center.

Azulik

Luxury hotel with world-renowned architecture by Eduardo Neira. You've likely seen photos of it. It is definitely on the pricier side, but if you just want to check it out you can go to their free "Sunset Experince" this experience is open to the general public from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm (please confirm with Azulik first). You can also make reservations for the Kanan Tulum Rooftop, their rooftop bar for drinks. Or you can make reservations at one of their 2 restaurants Kin Toh (Mexican food) & Tseen Ja (Japanese food), and have some food or just some drinks! Once you're in the property feel free to EXPLORE and wander around. It's a giant treehouse. Let your inner child out and play! Beach strip.

Ahau Tulum

Hotel & Beach club ($50 min spend). Home to the famous Daniel Popper art installation, Ven a la Luz (google it)! Raw Love Restaurant is a vegan restaurant in Ahau too.

Tulum Ruins

See some ancient Mayan history and visit the ruins! We've only bought tickets in person upon arrival (pretty cheap $6). Keep in mind you will walk a lot. Ignore all people trying to get you to park before you get to the official entrance (keep driving, you'll know when you get there).

Playa Paraiso

If you don't feel like dealing with the hotels to go to the beach, check out Playa Paraiso. Entrance fee is $3.

Casa Malca

Although we've never personally been here, this is a hotel/beach club that was owned by Pablo Escobar and it's supposed to be really cool! Beach strip.

Akumal Beach

30 min north of Tulum and you can swim with sea turtles 𓆉

Beach Strip Beaches

Just so you know, all the beaches are technically free. The beach clubs, on the other hand, are not. If you want to just access the beach without using day beds etc., you may have to enter through a hotel or restaurant but just keep walking onto the beach ;) **Parking on the beach strip is limited, you'll find parking lots with men guarding your car, and it can cost around $10 (no matter how long you stay).

Cenotes

We will be going to the BEST cenote on Sunday for brunch and hanging out, but if you want to go to others, we suggest Grand Cenote (they charge a $25 fee now), Cenote crystal, Cenote dos ojos (also great for scuba/cave diving), Cenote car wash, Cenote Calavera, and Cenote Zemway. Cenote Aldea Zama is free. Spread out, but closer to Tulum Center.

Day Trips From Tulum

Chichen Itza: Explore the magnificent Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza, one of the most famous archaeological sites in Mexico. 2 hours from Tulum. Bacalar: Known for its stunning "Laguna de Siete Colores" (Lagoon of Seven Colors). It's a MASSIVE lagoon with waters that look like the Maldives. 2.5 to 3 hours from Tulum. Cozumel Island: Known for its incredible scuba diving (Kim & Brendan's favorite scuba spot as Advanced Divers!), snorkeling, and beautiful beaches. 2.5 hours from Tulum. Coba Ruins: Tallest pyramids in the Yucatan - $5 USD and 50 min from Tulum.

For all the days along the way
