Traverse City Airport (TVC)

Traverse City (TVC) is the closest airport to Leland (45 min). It’s a cute, small airport with a lot of cherry-themed souvenirs. You will need to get a rental car or have a friend pick you up from the airport as there are no ubers or taxis in the area!

Manistee County Airport (MBL)

Manistee (MBL) is the second closest airport to Leland (1.5 hours). It’s a small airport but should have direct flights from Chicago. You will need to get a rental car or have a friend pick you up from the airport as there are no ubers or taxis in the area!

Grand Rapids Airport (GRR)

Grand Rapids Airport (GRR) is a 3-hour drive from Leland, but a bit easier to fly into!

Detroit Airport (DTW)

Detroit airport (DTW) is a 4.5 hour drive away, but is much easier to fly into! It will just require a bit more time behind the wheel.

Rental Car Advice - Traverse City

Leland is a small town with no easy taxi or uber/lyft options. You'll need a car to get around! There are 4 rental car companies that service TVC: Avis, Budget, Hertz, and National. Enterprise is also an option, but it is located away from the airport and is poorly staffed. Note: To avoid any issues, please try to pick up your rental car before 7pm! Sometimes these small town rental companies won't have someone there to help if you arrive very late at night :/ Check out the link below for more information!

Transport options from TVC airport

Traverse City is around a ~40 minute drive to the Leland area. If you don't have a rental car or friend picking you up, here are some options to set up a taxi in advance (it will come to around ~$150). Please note - we will share a spreadsheet closer to the date for folks to coordinate carpooling to and from the airport! My Taxi - (231) 409-5776 travels to Leland when needed. He requires a reservation in advance and they are booking well into June and July Odawa Country Taxi Cab - Steven - he is an independent driver and works 24/7 phone number (231) 946-2222 - $150 plus gratuity to Leland / Lake Leelanau Traverse City Taxi (231) 944-8325 - $120 plus gratuity. It would be wise to reserve, but not necessary. Up North Taxi (231) 499-0269 - $120 plus gratuity. Not necessary to reserve, but would advise.
