Question

Checking in on Sunday? PLEASE READ

Answer

Parking is at the back entrance of the hotel. See Hotel page on this website for the parking map. Enter on Holland Avenue. If you are checking in on Sunday at the Hilton Garden Inn Albany Med, early check in is first come first served. Since check in is technically at 3 pm, we have requested that rooms in our block are expedited to be ready for early check-in so you have time to make our shuttles. Our first shuttle to Normanside Country Club will be at 3:30 pm and the second shuttle is at 4 pm. (If you see the bus there early at 3, the 3 pm shuttle is only for immediate family coming early for photos).

Is there a shuttle?

Answer

Yes! We want you to enjoy the night and drink all you want! We have two shuttles from the Hilton Garden Inn Albany Med location. One is picking up guests at 3:30 pm and the other picks up at 4:00 pm. (33 passengers fit on the bus).

Time Capsule???

Answer

During the ceremony we will be putting items in a time capsule that represent memories of our relationship, and we will be opening it in 10 years. We would love for guests to contribute by either writing a message to us during the reception or by bringing something to the wedding that you’d like to put in the time capsule. Items should be about the size of your hand so we can fit it in the box.

Will we be indoors or outdoors?

Answer

The ceremony will take place outdoors on a patio that is connected to the reception hall. It will have an awning so you will be protected from the sun and (hopefully not) rain! The reception will be indoors with the option of going out on the patio throughout the whole night.

Where and when is the Welcome Reception (aka Rehearsal Dinner))?

Answer

The Welcome Reception on Saturday night is at Restaurant Navona at 5 to 8 pm. It’s a half mile down the road from the Hilton Garden Hill hotel at 289 New Scotland Avenue. It’s a nice 13 minute walk! If you prefer to drive, you can turn right onto Ontario and park in the parking lot behind the buildings.

Will there be an open bar?

You bet!

Will there be an after party?

Answer

Most likely people can meet up in the hotel lobby of the Hilton Garden Inn at Albany Med on New Scotland Ave in Albany. This would be an informal gathering (BYOB).

How should we dress?

Answer

Dress is not super formal but similar to most weddings. Cocktail dresses, dress shirts and pants (suit jackets are optional), etc. Please wear comfortable shoes to dance in (or bring a pair to change into)!

Is there parking on site?

Answer

Yes there is plenty of parking at the country club. Drive past the first building to the lower parking lot.

Can we take photos during the ceremony?

Answer

We kindly request this to be an UNPLUGGED CEREMONY. The photographer will capture the special moments so don't worry. Feel free to take photos and videos throughout the reception.

Can I bring my kids?

Answer

Due to limitations on guests, we have invited certain children depending on logistics such as travel. If your children are invited, you will see their names when you RSVP. If you do not see your child's name, that doesn't mean we love them any less!

I have dietary restrictions/allergies. What's the best way to let you know?

Is there a hotel room block?

Answer

Yes! We have reserved rooms at the Hilton Garden Inn at the Albany Medical Center for SUN, May 28th. Please call 518-396-3500 to book a room under the Hanlon/Hiza room block. If you are coming early and would like to stay Saturday night as well, the rates will be slightly higher for that night and are not part of our block. We highly recommend sticking with this hotel (we did our research in terms of quality and location and this one was the best)!
