In Sept. 2017, John sold everything that wouldn’t fit in his car and headed east to Denver. Micaela graduated in May 2017 and was taking a gap year before applying to med school. Little did they know, their lives were about to change forever. They met on Bumble two weeks after John moved to CO. John thought Micaela lived in Denver. Later he learned she lived in Strasburg. Their first date was at TopGolf. Their second date was an Avalanche game. They rented bikes and rode from John’s apartment to the Pepsi Center, about 1 mile. Upon arrival, John noticed he lost his wallet. Micaela suggested they go look for it. John remained calm, froze his cards and they went to the game. During this date, John told Micaela he had MS. The next 2 years together were full of adventures together: snowboarding, hiking, powerlifting competitions, & road trips. In January 2019, Micaela was accepted to PT school in NV, starting in July. John got the all clear to work remotely and they moved to Las Vegas in June. John decided in December 2019, he was going to propose to Micaela on his birthday. He bought a ring and it arrived on December 27th. After picking up the ring, he couldn’t wait 3 days. He proposed to Micaela that night. She said YES!! Micaela went to CO the next week, and they booked Winter Park for July 2021. Then COVID happened 3 months later. Micaela was on Facebook, saw a bride who decided to get married with a small ceremony and have a larger celebration the following year. John, in favor of getting married earlier, suggested they do the same thing. After many discussions and some very hard decisions, they decided to get married on June 26, 2020, in NV, with just their parents, pastor, & pastor’s wife present. They hoped by July 2021, COVID would be cooling down and they could have a "Freakin' Awesome Party" (Pat Lamari) with everyone. God’s grace and mercy has been constantly shown throughout our relationship and being able to have this celebration is no exception!
