Karen and Jason matched on Hinge in March 2020. They began texting as lockdown started in NYC, but were optimistic that they’d be able to meet up within a few weeks. Little did they know how long they’d need to wait! Soon after matching, Karen joined her brother’s family to quarantine in the Hamptons while Jason remained in Brooklyn. Undeterred by the distance, Karen and Jason continued texting, had FaceTime dates, and inexplicably picked The Wire as the TV show they would jointly watch and discuss. After 5 months of virtual communication, Karen and Jason finally had their first in-person date in Manhattan. The first in-person date helped confirm their shared values and complementary personalities, and subsequent years have been filled with adventures throughout NYC, trips to national parks (and generally introducing Karen to nature), and countless snuggles with Karen’s dog-son (formerly dog-nephew) Dobby. Jason proposed to Karen on May 26, 2023. He recreated one of their first dates that began at a New Orleans-style jazz restaurant in Tribeca followed by a sunset walk on the west side of Manhattan. Jason convinced Karen to walk all the way to the end of Pier 26 (“Lover’s pier”) as Jason’s best man John Wang deftly cleared the crowds. As they reached the end of the pier, Jason, who had prepared a speech in advance, promptly forgot everything and began the most important question of his life with “Well now’s as good a time as ever…” Miraculously Karen still said “Yes!” We can’t wait to celebrate with you at our wedding!
