Bro-fficiant
Steve is the older brother of Heather, so they’ve known each other a while. He tried to teach Heather how to drive a manual just once, and never tried again. In his defense, that was a good call. He’s a great brother and we are honored to have him be such a special part of the day as one of our officiants. He’s is married to the matron of honor (her preferred title is Honorable Married Lady), Rachel. He is also the dad of Heather’s favorite tiny humans, Olivia and Brooks.
Bro-fficiant
That’s right, TWO officiants for double the trouble! John is Jared’s older brother and they grew up as most boys do, beating each other up. Give him a good cup of coffee, and time with his wife and kiddos and he is a happy camper!
Honorable Married Lady
Feeling that the Matron of Honor title needed a boost, Rachel revamped the title into Honorable Married Lady. Rachel is Heather’s sister-in-law but that doesn’t quite cover their relationship well enough. They have bonded over the last 10 years and are now the ultimate travel buddies. They take day trips to New York multiple times a year and it’s led to some of the funniest and most sleep deprived memories. They may or may not also have a book documenting all their travels, just to prove how close they are. Rachel is married to “Bro-fficiant” Steve and is also the mom of Heather’s niece and nephew, Olivia and Brooks.
Maid of Honor
Nikki and Heather went to high school together but didn’t become good friends until meeting again at Northway. The first hangout they had, Jared actually crashed. Yet again Heather didn’t realize he liked her and Nikki still says she called it many years ago.
Bridesmaid
Cara and Heather’s parents went to college together and they have been friends pretty much since birth. That’s 35 years!! Which means they grew up in the era of choreographing dances to AQUA and Spice Girls. Sadly, they will not be breaking out any of those performances at the wedding, but just know they were awesome.
Bridesmaid
Jessie and Heather met at Northway in youth group. Jessie walked up to a terribly shy Heather and basically decided to adopt an introvert, and she hasn’t looked back! Going strong at 24 years and the theme and musical obsession seems to be getting a mind of its own!
Bridesmaid
Megan and Heather went to youth together at, you guessed it, Northway! So going on 24 years! They worked together at a bakery in high school, lived together in college and post grad, so safe to say they have a lot of memories!
Bridesmaid
Stefanie and Heather were roommates in college, so going strong for 14 years! Stefanie always has the best Halloween costumes and Heather may or may not have copied them a few times.
Best Man
John has known both the bride and groom for years through Northway. Starting to think this place has a big role in the life of the bride and groom. Anyway, John has more UGA articles of clothing than any human alive and loves Perry the Platypus.
Groomsman
Matt met the bride and groom before they were a pair at, what a shock, Northway! Matt and Jared like to have long theological conversations and discuss bikes. His wife, Kristen, and Heather have also gotten into it. The bike club, Slowspokes, has a logo and shirts. We are accepting applications.
Groomsman
Joel is Jared and John’s youngest brother. He survived the hardships of having two older brothers. According to stories, it was rough! The McGukins seem to have a fondness for jeeps, biking, and golden doodles, to which Joel proves true on all accounts. His wife, Anna, and golden doodle, Willow, like to support these habits as well.
Groomsman
Evan has known Jared since his Warner Robins days. He and his wife Hannah are creatives that couple well with Jared and Heather’s creativity. They do like scary movies which Heather doesn’t, so they have to watch those with Jared. Heather doesn’t want nightmares.
Groomsman
Samuel and Jared met at small group at Northway! No need to branch out anywhere else with so many friends in one place! He’s the best story teller around and also a singer. We have such talented friends!
Groomsman
Nick is Jared’s roommate and met at…..Southway….. just kidding, Northway again! Go Northway! Anyway, he was the one that locked Heather’s engagement ring in a safe that even a Jared couldn’t access (it was by request, not a hostage situation). But Heather knowing where the ring was didn’t help her neurosis. Luckily Nick never gave her the code to the safe and Jared got to propose without Heather stealing the ring first.
Flower Girl
Olivia is Heather’s niece and this precious human also gave Heather the name of Aunt Haha. These two are pretty close buddies and the bride might cry when she sees her niece and nephew walk down the aisle before her because they are too stinking precious!
Flower Girl
Jared’s adorable niece will be an amazing flower girl! Jared says Savannah has never met a stranger so Heather can’t wait to see how many friends she makes walking down the aisle!
Ring Security
This precious little man is Heather’s nephew and he has been known to wait at the door for Aunt Haha to get to his house. He is 2 so there is no telling what this ring bearer will do, but I’m sure whatever it is, if you look at the bride she will be smiling, and thinking it’s precious.
Ring Security
Jared’s nephew will help Brooks protect the rings. Word is they will use their cuteness to distract any thievery and it has a 100% success rate. Can’t get safer security for such a special job than these two!
Father of the Bride
The father of the bride raised the bride right! She somewhat knows how to change a tire, can do her own taxes (while her dad looks over her shoulder), she knows how to google things she can't fix. And if that fails, she calls dad. Combined with a secret handshake, these two make a sarcastic pair to be reckoned with.
Mother of the Bride
The mother of the bride is possibly more excited than the bride! Well, maybe not....we think. Anyway, "like mother like daughter" couldn't be more true. These two will sing Footloose on every car ride with a diet coke and the good ice while talking about how much they love the bride's dogs like humans. Do we have a problem? It's not a problem to us!
Father of the Groom
This brave man raised three McGukin boys! We assume he achieved this with patience and a lot of prayer! A huge Bama fan, we are curious to see him and the Father of the Bride UGA fan talks sports.
Mother of the Groom
Donna managed to survive a household of 3 red headed boys so we know she can take on Heather’s sarcastic side no problem! She, the mother of the bride, and the bride bond over a love of thrifting and diy projects.
Ceremony Prayer
Heather’s granddaddy will bless the bride and groom with a prayer to end all prayers. Having been a missionary for 25+ years, Granddaddy has had plenty of practice!
