Once upon a time, a graphic designer named Heather and her pup, Eliza the fruitbat, went to Society Garden to meet some friends for Harry Potter trivia. She was the first to arrive. John, the Best Man, texted to ask if Heather would greet a new person coming to the group. Well, of course! That person turned out to be another graphic designer named Jared. They bonded over fonts and the cuteness of Heather’s dog. They continued to go to the same Bible study and Heather would tell tales of her bad online dating stories while Jared would give sarcastic commentary. What others in the group saw as dating possibility, Jared and Heather claimed “We would kill each other”. For 4 years they asked each other for design feedback on various projects. One night Jared texted and asked Heather out. Heather promptly texted Nikki, the Maid of Honor, freaking out. Jared proceeded to text Heather “You’re freaking out and texting Nikki aren’t you?”. So clearly he knows her well. Their first date went well as they judged the menu design and use of typefaces. Before leaving, Heather fist bumped Jared good night because, well, she’s awkward. Luckily he didn’t give up and Heather finally let down her guard. He romantically asked her to be his girlfriend via text while Heather had Covid. He submitted a formal application, the dogs approved, and the rest is history.
