Leeanne Singleton

Maid of Honor

Leeanne and I met in 2015 when I was in search of a new roommate, and she responded to my Craigslist post. In my post, I outlined aspects of who I was and my lifestyle, which included training for triathlons. When she inquired about the apartment, she responded much in the same fashion I wrote the post. It was great! She had me at, “Swam in college.” Leeanne supported my Catalina Channel crossing as a kayaker. And then willingly decided to spend even more hours together when I recruited her to join the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training IronTeam. She is one of the most level-headed, diplomatic, and thoughtful people I know. I am so grateful for our friendship – who would have thought I'd find my Maid of Honor on Craigslist!?

John Hills

Best Man

I first met John on an early spring day in 1984 – May 1st to be exact. Whatever I thought of him at the time, I grew – over several years – to appreciate his wisdom. John is my older brother and has always been the “professional” one and the “responsible” one in the family. He’s set the standard for me throughout my entire life and is the first person I turn to for advice. I’m thrilled to have him stand beside me for this next journey!

Holly Meyer

Bridesmaid

Holly and I met in Fall of 2013. It was my first season of IronTeam and Holly was Social Captain, naturally. After several shared South Bay Thursday run nights, miles in the saddle up and down the coast of Malibu, and laps in the Culver Plunge, we became great friends. We have spent weekends camping for Wildflower Training Weekend (a team weekend usually in March in anticipation of a hilly and hot 70.3 known as Wildflower that we swore every time we would never do again yet continued signing up for!), weekends racing, weekends cheering teammates on, and weekends wine tasting. Holly is one of the most reliable people I have ever met and I can count on her for anything. I am honored to have her as a bridesmaid!

Jeff Hills

Groomsman

Jeff is my younger brother, and the reason that I’m the anguished middle child of the family instead of the spoiled baby – thanks, Jeff. Jeff has always been the one to push me to be my best - when he puts his mind to doing something, you can be certain it will be done. I continue to admire his relentless commitment to whatever has captured his interest and I can’t wait to hear how he will eventually solve time travel. I’m thrilled to have him join me on this occasion!

Carolyn Kielhorn

Bridesmaid

I've known Carolyn since we were 8, but our friendship grew during middle school. We theorized on Days of Our Lives (a show we watched every day), enjoyed the swim team and soccer team together, and took several classes together in high school. Some of my most fond memories involved Carolyn and I doing our homework together while watching Days. It is also here when my love of corgis began – Carolyn's neighbor had a corgi who would come to greet us as we pulled into the driveway. After high school, we both went to Iowa, where we lived in the same dorm, tailgated at Hawkeye games, and enjoyed nightly episodes of Sex & the City with our Act II Butter Lovers popcorn. Carolyn is one of my most loyal and humble friends, and I am thrilled to have her stand up with me at my wedding!

Josh Dubois

Groomsman

Josh is one of my oldest friends from KU. And when I say oldest, I mean, oldest, he’s old. I’ve known Josh for over 2 decades, and when we both moved back to Kansas City we became nearly inseparable. He’s been there for my biggest moments - including viral videos - and he’s one of the kindest, most thoughtful people I know. I hope to one day be as good of a dad as he is! Thanks for being one of my best buddies to join me for my wedding!

Brian Wacker

Officiant

Brian is one of my first friends I had at KU. As luck would have it, we lived just a few doors down from each other our freshman year - and we didn’t know it at the time, but for the next 7 years, that’s the farthest we would live from each other. From Lawrence to Italy to St. Louis, if it’s a story from my early 20s, odds are, Brian was right there with me. It’s only appropriate that he would be here to oversee this occasion as I embark on my next journey!

For all the days along the way
