The following info will hopefully make your choice a little easier: Denver ~3hrs drive time, cheapest airfare, snowy mountain driving Grand Junction ~1hr50m drive time, cheap/moderate airfare, dry driving conditions (most of the time) Eagle/Vail ~1hr drive time, moderate airfare, snowy mountain driving Aspen ~45m drive time, moderate airfare, snowy mountain driving

Question

Do I need to be there Thursday through Sunday or can I come for a shorter or longer amount of time?

Answer

We would love for you to stay all three nights, especially those that want to stay at Avalanche Ranch. We also realize getting time off and traveling is tough and we welcome any other length of stay. Cabins and wagons at the Avalanche Ranch have been reserved for our event Thursday, February 24 through Sunday, February 27. You are welcome to extend your stay prior to Thursday and beyond Sunday on your own accord. Contact the Avalanche Ranch for availability, as cabins and wagons book up well ahead of time.

Question

Can I soak at the Avalanche Ranch if I'm not staying there?

Answer

If you are staying somewhere else, but would like to soak at the Ranch from 9am - 5pm, please contact them to purchase a day pass ASAP. Day passes also sell out well in advance, so we encourage this purchase as early as possible.

Question

Can we bring our kids?

Answer

Although we love your little ones, our wedding and wedding festivities will be adults only events. Due to limited space at the Avalanche Ranch, we are requesting adults only accommodation inquiries. If you would like to bring children along on your trip, please consider alternative accommodations. Thank you for understanding.

Question

Is altitude sickness real?

Answer

YES! To fend it off, please STAY HYDRATED, limit alcohol consumption, and get plenty of rest. Symptoms include the following: Headache Dizziness Nausea Vomiting Fatigue and loss of energy Shortness of breath Problems with sleep Loss of appetite Symptoms usually come on within 12 to 24 hours of reaching a higher elevation and then get better within a day or two as your body adjusts to the change in altitude.

Question

What food is provided and where can I get meals?

Answer

There are a multitude of restaurants and a grocery store in Carbondale. We highly recommend shopping in Carbondale for provisions prior to arriving at the Avalanche Ranch if that is where you are staying, as it is relatively secluded and there is no food on site. There are more than adequate kitchens in the cabins with stovetops, ovens, plates, utensils and a fridge/freezer for storage. Avalanche Ranch is also just down the road from Redstone, where you can eat at the Historic Redstone Inn or try Detroit style pizza at Propaganda Pie. Appetizers, dinner and dessert will be served at the reception.

Question

What clothes should I bring?

Answer

It is winter in Colorado, and anything goes! Check the weather for Carbondale, Colorado ahead of time, and plan on it being cold. Make sure to bring bathing suits and sandals for the hot springs. Wedding attire is semi-formal with winter appropriate outerwear and footwear.

Question

How is internet and cell service?

Answer

Cell service is almost non-existent at the Avalanche Ranch and Redstone Inn. Reliable cell service is about a 15 minute drive as you get closer to the town of Carbondale. There is wifi in the recreation room at Avalanche Ranch and the entire Redstone Inn. Carbondale has full cell service.

Question

Is there a shuttle to the wedding venue?

Answer

We are working on it. Ideally we will secure a shuttle that can take folks from the Avalanche Ranch to the wedding venue in Carbondale and back. Stay tuned...
