How We Met

It was a mutual swipe right on a dating app that brought us together- a true modern day love story. I was intrigued by his fishing photos and great smile, he liked my taste in music and brown eyes. After weeks of chatting and getting to know one another, we decided we would grab happy hour at one of our local favorites, Gram and Dunn. We were both walking down separately to the date spot where, at a stop light, I heard someone say, "Hey, you look familiar." I turned to the left and there he was. Little did we know, we had only lived 3 blocks away from each other. With two big smiles, we began our date there at the stoplight, walking and spending the evening getting to know one another. We both left that date thinking, "This really could be something"

How We Got Engaged

April 2021

Lauren and I took our first trip abroad together to Cabo, Mexico in the spring of 2019 so it was a special place for the both of us. In April 2021, Lauren and I were taking a trip back to Cabo with her mother (Margie), step-father (Randy), sister (Katlyn), brother-in-law (Alex), and niece (Eleanor). As soon as we landed, while Lauren was away, I told the family that I was going to ask Lauren to marry me on this trip. They were ecstatic and couldn't wait to celebrate such a special occasion with everyone. About half-way through the trip, Lauren and I went into town, just the two of us, and had a day planned to go out to Lover's Beach on a glass bottom boat. On the way, we toured around looking at sea lions and whales breaching along the bay. The plan was going perfectly...until the Captain looked at me and said he would not be able to drop us off at the beach due to the tide. I pointed at the other boats that were dropping people off at the beach and insisted we needed to go, even if it was just for a minute. The Captain agreed and declared he would be picking us up in an hour. On the beach, Lauren and I found a secluded corner in the shade where we could set up our towels and enjoy the ocean. I stealthily set up my phone for a video of one of the most special moments of our lives. I walked back towards her, ring in hand, and got down on one knee and asked her to make me the happiest man alive and marry me. After lots of hand flapping and happy tears, she said yes! We called our families from the beach and returned back to the mainland where we spent the afternoon and evening celebrating together!
