As a second year medical student, Sam taught review sessions to first years, including Marc. Students usually pick up answer keys before they leave. One day, Marc conveniently forgot to pick his up. He emailed Sam, asking her to bring a copy to the JayDoc Free Clinic that night. Turns out, Sam forgot to bring the answers to JayDoc. Marc claims she forgot them on purpose. Sam's pretty sure she legitimately forgot them, but wouldn't put it past herself to pull something like that. Regardless, the two exchanged numbers at JayDoc that night so they could coordinate meeting the next day.

Their texts expanded from academics to the Royals 2014 playoff run and life in general. Though they technically didn't start dating until November, they both remember enjoying each other's company while watching Game 7 (Heartbreaker) at P&L with their friends Molly, Scott and Erin. Speaking of whom, they probably owe some credit (30% to be exact) to those three for being instigators early in their relationship. Scott claims that he knew Marc and Sam were meant for each other before the two of them even met.

Their first official "date" was to a Friendsgiving hosted by Scott and Molly. Marc and Sam fell in love that Winter. Their first trip together was to Breckenridge. Two of their best friends, Libbie and Chad, lived in Denver and came to meet them on the slopes. Marc and Sam quickly learned that not only did they love each other but loved each other's friends and family.

Two years after that first trip to the mountains they returned to shred that pow pow at Winter Park with their families and friends. At the top of their first lift ride Marc had a "boot problem" and asked Sam to hang back with him. He proposed at the top of the mountain. Chad, Nina and Fletcher popped out from behind snow drifts and had photographed the whole thing. Mad props to Nina for skiing with a backpack full of champagne so that we could have an on-mountain celebration. Libbie and Adam rolled off the top of the lift just after the engagement to celebrate at the peak, and both Marc's and Sam's families were waiting at the end of the run! Marc and Sam look forward to a lifetime of traveling, Royals games, "tutoring sessions" and adventures together.
