Rainey Street
2 blocks from the hotel, this street is filled with old houses turned into bars (and a bar made out of shipping containers). Our personal favorites are Icenhauer's, Lustre Pearl, Bungalow, and Lucille's..
Banger's
Delicious sausages and over 100 beers on-tap, this is one of Sam's favorite places. It is located right in the middle of Rainey Street, but has a much more laid back vibe.
Whisler's
One of our favorite bars! Fun drinks, fun atmosphere, fully outside.
Taco Joint
Amazing tacos- head here for breakfast or for lunch.
Black's Barbecue
Some great BBQ that won't have insane lines.
Franklin Barbecue
If you want to wake up super early on Saturday (or Friday if you're here), Franklin's has the best barbecue in Austin. However, you have to get in line by 6 or 7 am to snag food when they open at 11!

Mount Bonnell
For a great view, go to Mt. Bonnell- it's a very short hike but does involve a number of stairs.
Barton Springs Pool
A natural pool fed from underground springs. If it's a nice day out, head to Barton Springs- the pool is usually between 68-70 degrees.
The University of Texas at Austin
If you like exploring campuses, University of Texas is a fun one to walk around! There's also a presidential library (LBJ) & an art museum (Blanton Museum) on campus.
360 Bridge Overlook
A somewhat challenging hike with some of the best views of Austin. An out-and-back trail that is about 1.8 miles in total.
Lady Bird Lake Boardwalk
An easy hike on a boardwalk around Lady Bird Lake. There are tons of access points so make it as short or as long as you'd like. You can walk to it from the hotel- just head towards the river/lake (or plug in 1820 S. Lakeshore Blvd on your GPS).
South Congress Avenue
Walk around South Congress to see some eclectic shops (including the famous Allen's Boots), street performers, and to grab some good food. You'll find the "I love you so much" wall here, at Jo's Coffee.
Barton Creek Greenbelt
There are so many hikes on the green belt of varying lengths/difficulties, Google to find the best spot for you!
