Beautiful botanical gardens in the shadows of the Koolau cliffs
Haunama Bay is a popular nature reserve in the Hawaii Kai neighborhood of Oahu. It has crystal blue water and white-sand beach. It is a popular tourist destination and entrance fees paid goes towards preserving the park. It's a site to be seen but go early because it gets crowded fast.
What better place to skydive than in Hawaii? Not for the faint of heart. Alexis and her stepdad Rob went skydiving at this very place 12 years ago when her parents eloped. If you can't tell from the very grainy picture, that's her!
Our favorite beach! Come here for white, soft sand and crystal blue waters. You can also arrange to rent kayaks or paddleboards and adventure out to the two islands that are just off of the shore.
Another great beach along the North Shore. There are a couple of nice rocks to jump off of!
There's a reason why Waikiki beach is the most populated -- with its calm, warm blue waters and soft sandy white beaches. The beach is a great place to learn how to surf if you're a first timer!
Cool spot to pull over on the drive around the east side of the island.
We love this drive in both directions from Pearl City to Kaneohe. Recommended with a convertible car ;)
This is a very cool drive up to the lookout. We recommend going up Tantalus Drive, and down Round Top Drive. Stop by many hikes along the way. The lookout has a beautiful view of Honolulu. Great for those too lazy to hike but want to experience an amazing view.
We did this hike to check out the sunrise. Definitely worth waking up early for!
Not for the faint of heart! Aaron almost fainted on the way up. This is a hike up an abandoned tramway. And it goes straight up! Come early to avoid the crowds and the heat.
Moderate hike with panoramic views of Honolulu and the ocean. It's not a hard hike if you have water on hand -- don't make the same mistake Adri, Yoon, and Lex made by sharing 1 small water bottle in 80+ degree weather.
A small family-owned restaurant serving up classic Hawaiian dishes and they do it the best. It gets fairly busy because it is popular with both locals and tourists. We recommend going on off-peak hours to avoid the wait. They’re also ONLY open from Tues-Friday so plan accordingly. Trust us, it is worth the hassle. Get 2 orders of ribs and bring cash!
Eat at the counter for breakfast. Aaron recommends at least one order of Butter Rolls! Don't forget to grab some baked goods before you leave! They're known for their cream puffs.
Legendary shave ice spot. The surrounding town is also very cute with a ton of food truck options.
A trip to the North Shore is not complete without a stop to the most famous shrimp truck. Order the Shrimp Scampi or Hot and Spicy! Bring plenty of wet wipes! Lots of people discuss which shrimp truck is better and you honestly can't go wrong with any of them. Giovanni's holds a special place in our hearts.
This is a really cool Japanese food court on the ground floor of a super nice mall. $1 beers and a huge food court filled with Japanese cuisine. Eat your hearts out.
Hot dog in a taro bun with guava mustard and mango relish. Need we say more?
Famous for their malasadas. Come stop by for dessert after Rainbow's Drive-in for the ultimate "kanak attack". Our favorite is the plain with no filling, coated with sugar. They have food trucks all over the island as well.
Located inside the International Market! Stop by after having lunch at one of the many options inside This is where we fell in love with mochi donuts. Our favorite flavor is the black sesame!
Foodland is Hawaii's Grocery Store and they have amazing poke! We love to stop by and look at different chips and snack options. Stop into any of their locations when you're out-and-about around the island.
Pulled pork burritos are delish!
Get the Banana Mac Nut Pancakes!
This is a great grab-and-go spot for local food!
One of Alexis' favorite food items is tonakstu and boy do they have amazing options here. You can get kurabota tonakstu and all you can eat cabbage salad.
Tide pools and a nearby by hike to a lighthouse!
