Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

If you are planning on coming to the full schedule of events (Meet & Greet, Wedding and Recovery) we strongly recommend staying on the Island for the full long-weekend. There are two main townships, Oneroa and Onetangi, so staying close to one of those would be convenient and on the main bus network.

Question

How can I get around the Island?

Answer

There is a frequent and convenient bus network across the Island that visits the main wineries, beaches and townships. To use the buses you will need an 'AT Hop Card' which can be purchased at the ferry terminal. A fun day option is to hire scooters/vespas or bikes to explore the island at your own pace. You could also hire a car on the Island (from 'Go Rentals' or 'Wheels on Waiheke') if you want the added convenience, but again, we recommend doing this well in advance as they do book up. There also is a limited Uber and taxi service although these can be quite expensive in peak season.

Question

What will the weather be like on Waiheke Island?

Answer

The weather in January is typically quite stable, often in the mid-high 20s. However, it is Auckland so we could have 4 seasons in one day - we suggest packing accordingly!

Question

How will I get to and from the wedding?

Answer

Mudbrick is a 3 minute drive from Oneroa but is not on the bus route. You're welcome to make your own way there, or alternatively we will provide shuttle services between 3-3.45pm from outside the 'Waiheke Islands Artworks and Library' at 127 Ocean View Road, Oneroa. We will also organise buses to take everybody home at the end of the night. Once all RSVPs have been received we will be in touch with more information about these options.

Question

Is the Island child friendly?

Answer

YES! Waiheke Island has plenty to offer for visitors of all ages. There are so many incredible beaches and walks, as well as activities including an Eco Zip line and Disc golf. In our experience most of the wineries, breweries, distilleries and restaurants are all child friendly as well and have great kids options.

Question

Can I book a babysitter on Waiheke island?

Answer

Yes! Several of our suppliers have recommended the following babysitters and nannying services which can be booked for the wedding day/night: - Waiheke Island Nannies - https://waihekenannies.co.nz/ - Mindful Corner - https://www.mindful-corner.com/

For all the days along the way
