This Romaneque Revival style mansion from the late 1800's serves as the perfect enchanting stop for romance. Visit this historic landmark right on Seneca Lake as you head towards the wineries and Watkins Glen! It's as great stop for brunch and photos or even to stay overnight. “Named a World’s Best Wine Hotel by Wine Enthusiast, voted number three in USA TODAY’S Top 10 Wine Country Hotels, listed on the National Register of Historic Properties, and voted one of the Most Romantic Places in New York State, Belhurst offers historic lodging, delicious dining, a luxurious spa & salon, and a renowned winery, all on one property.”
Overlooking Seneca Lake, this winery is the first of many favorites as you head toward the southern tier of the famous Finger Lakes. The finger lakes region is well known for its wine trails and scenic views. The drive down is perfect for a day or half day trip and Fox Run is a great first stop for light lunch on the patio overlooking the lake.
Glenora has many options of different wines to taste, including some fruity mixes as well. They have a beautiful view of the lake and you can stop for lunch at their restaurant or even stay a night at the Inn on their property. We had a picnic outside overlooking the lake several months after covid began as our first "date out" in months. The view was exquisite and so peaceful; it's a sure bet that you will enjoy this stop along the way.
If you enjoy the outdoors, this place is absolutely "GORGE"-ous! Be sure to wear your hiking shoes, sneakers, or tennis shoes. This natural phenomenon is great to pair with the Finger Lakes wine trail for a day trip!
A beautiful winery that offers cheese pairings with its tastings, wine slushies, and one of our local favorite must trys: Cheeky Monkey tomato dipping oil! This is the last stop of the three wineries in order on your way to Watkins Glen.
Don't be fooled by the seemingly simple appearance of these cocktails. This place has a seasonal cocktail list and a portion of their menu changes. Nosh was one of our first dinner dates and the food and drink has left an impression on us both. No matter, the Ahi Tuna Noshos are definite must to try! Not to be underestimated, Old Pueblo Grill, the neighboring casual restaurant owned by the same chef, is also a great stop for lunch.
This local brewery is home to some of Brett's favorite craft beer, like Scotch Ale and Space Kitty IPA! Their food menu is equally impressive featuring many German specialties like potato pancakes, knockwurst, and schnitzel. It's a little off the beaten path but worth a visit if it piques your interest.
Brett introduced Erin to this amazing all you can eat Brazilian steakhouse chain early in their relationship as one of his favorite restaurants. Save your appetite because this place is a meat festival and quite the experience for those that have never been!
It may not be the Pacific Ocean, but because of its size, Lake Ontario has always made Erin feel at home. When the weather is nice, Erin and Brett are thankful to take Bailey on walks down the pier and feel the lake breeze while soaking up some Vitamin D.
A very popular historic landmark to visit in the Rochester area is the estate of the late George Eastman. Eastman was the founder of the Eastman Kodak company, which produced most of the film for the Hollywood entertainment industry. His home toward the city center also showcases exquisite gardens. Brett, like both of his parents, is proud to work in IT at the Kodak film finishing department.
