Get to the venue early Saturday to enjoy the ridge trail or visit a nearby waterfall. THOMPSON FALLS TRAIL A 1.1-mile (roundtrip) easy trail that is suitable for all skill levels. The Thompson Falls are a great outing on a warm summer day. WILDCAT RIDGE TRAIL (via scenic chairlift) The Wildcat Ridge contains 5 peaks (Wildcat A through Wildcat E). The resort trail starts from the base area and winds up the ski slope, but you can cut off the climb and enjoy the scenic ridges by taking the scenic chairlift ride to the summit of Wildcat D. Once on the summit, you can enjoy the moderate ridge walk to Wildcat A (2.1 miles each way). The Ridge has incredible views of Mount Washington, Carter Notch, and the surrounding valley.
Hike to the ceremony! Wildcat ridge has 5 peaks: A, B, C, D, and E. Peaks E and D (where the ceremony will be held) are NH 4000-footers. Guests are welcome to hike to the ceremony and take the scenic chair lift down. Let us know if this is your plan and we'll have a lift pass waiting for your ride down and can sort our car shuttles or trail drop-offs. WILDCAT RIDGE TRAIL The Wildcat Ridge Trail begins on NH 16 at the Glen Ellis Falls parking area and steeply ascends to Wildcat D. 2.2 mile one way, 2+ hrs for experienced hikers. NINETEEN-MILE BROOK TRAIL This trail provides a more moderate, longer approach. Find the parking lot for this trailhead on the east side of NH-16. The trail follows a brook up to Carter Notch with a relatively gradual elevation gain. At Carter Notch you will find the Carter Notch AMC Hut and Carter lake. You will see Carter Dome rise to the North, and Wildcat A rise to the south. 6.4 mi one way (6.8 with Carter Hut), 5-6 hrs.

The Red Barn Museum is open Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Mondays from 10am to 4pm. The Douglas A. Philbrook Red Barn Museum is located just outside of the Mt. Washington Auto Road base lodge. Opened in 1861, the Mount Washington Carriage Road was the first man-made tourist attraction in America. Of the many horse and hay barns that served the staging business on the Carriage Road at the turn of the century, this last surviving barn displays objects and memorabilia from the Auto Road’s history. You can also see some of the vehicles that once made the 8-mile journey to the top of New England.
Great, moderately challenging 6.6-mile out-and-back trail near Gorham, New Hampshire. Close to lodging if you stay in Gorham. Expect to take about 4 hours for this trip. Fun fact: this trail overlaps with the Appalachian Trail, which starts in Georgia and spans 2,190 before ending in Katahdin, Maine.
