We are so excited you'd like to try something new by wearing traditional Indian clothing to our wedding on Saturday! It's not required, so if you can't manage to find something you like, just wear something with lots of color (with the exception of red and all gold)! To start off, women often wear a lehenga or saree. Saree's tend to be a bit more difficult to wear as it requires a large swatch of fabric pleated and wrapped around you to form a skirt, so we suggest a lehenga. The lehenga is a skirt, often worn to the floor, and both the lehenga and saree are worn with a choli, or top. The choli can be as long or as short as you please, and comes with a variety of sleeve lengths and cuts. There is also the option of a salwar kameez, which is a two piece set with a long top (kurti) and loose pair of pants. Men are a little more simple in that they don a long kurta with long pants underneath. We suggest starting with a local shop! Many cities have at least a couple of boutiques where the staff will be more than happy to help you navigate the complicated world of Indian style. We know ordering online is often cheaper and easier, but more often than not, you'll not know what you're getting until it arrives on your doorstep. Below will be a link to an Instagram account of a close friend of Sunanda, Raj's mother. She suggests reaching out to her if you like any of her designs and you can maybe get a better idea of what you'd like. instagram.com/annoras.trove/
