Travel Note
Eretria is an ancient port city and is still the entry point for accessing Evia by ferry from the mainland. This is the most touristy city on the island and you can find plenty of souvenirs here. There is a beautiful archeological museum within town, but stick to the streets along the port and shore for most shops and restaurants.
Hotel
Negroponte is one of the closest hotels to Adriana's house, about 5 minutes by car. If you're looking for sun & sand, they have a lovely pool area and a private beach.
Travel Note
Chalkida is the capital of Evia and a bustling little city. They have a lovely boardwalk along the water with cafes and bars, and if you venture a few streets away from the sea you can find shopping along Avanton. Venture across the Old Bridge and Karababa's Castle is a short 15 minute walk. There's a great little cafe at the foot of the castle that's perfect for a mid-afternoon drink.
Hotel
If you'd prefer to stay in a more urban environment, Paliria Hotel is right in the middle of the Chalkida boardwalk. No direct access to a beach or pool, but you're still only 15 minutes away from Adriana's family summer house.
Travel Note
Delphi, home of Apollo's Oracle, is about 1.5 hours from Chalkida by car...perfect for a day trip!
Travel Note
While we suggest spending at least one night in Athens, it's a very easy day trip from Evia. Look under "After the Wedding" for more information about where to stay and what to see.
