Flight
Florence Peretola Airport is by far the closest, clocking in at 20-30 mins from the city center. However, it's a smaller regional airport so there are no direct flights from the US unfortunately. If you are planning on visiting another city in Europe before or after, we definitely suggesting using this airport. If you don't mind doing a layover this is a great option too.
Flight
Milan Malpensa Airport is located approx 3 hours north of Florence. If you're against layovers, this is the airport for you. Most major airlines fly direct from NY (Delta, United, American) and it tends to be cheaper than flying into Rome. To get to Florence you can either rent a car and drive, or take the high-speed train to Santa Maria Novella station.
Flight
Rome Fiumicino Airport is located approx 3 hours south of Florence. It's slightly closer to Florence than Milan Airport, but prices tend to be higher. Similar to Milan Airport, if you're against layovers, this is the airport for you. If it's your first time visiting Italy you may want to fly into Rome to get the full tourist experience! To get to Florence you can either rent a car and drive, or take the high-speed train to Santa Maria Novella station.
