Like most New Yorkers in the modern day and age, we met on a dating app (shout out to Hinge). Neither of us can remember what the opening line was, but we’re *almost* positive Tyler sent it. If we had to guess, it was likely something about Danielle’s precious pup Oliver. We decided to meet for a drink on a rainy evening on Monday, July 22nd, 2019 and settled on Bar Bacon in Hell’s Kitchen (a classy joint if the name isn’t already clear). Tyler arrived 15 minutes late soaking wet, but after a flight of bacon themed shots the sparks started flying. Things were going so well that we decided to grab a bite to eat at Empanada Mama, where the conversation and alcohol continued to flow. Like a true gentleman, Tyler walked Danielle home in the rain to her Upper West Side apartment where they planned their next date for a few days later.
To celebrate Danielle’s 30th birthday, we planned a two-week trip to Hawaii in October of 2021. With the latest surge in Covid cases, our plans were up in the air. Due to the miracle of science and vaccinations, we were able to go ahead as planned and departed on October 3rd. Our first stop was the magnificent island of Kauai, where we planned a dinner at a restaurant called Tidepools in the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort on October 5th. The view from the beach was incredible and as we were walking along the water at sunset, Tyler got down on one knee and asked Danielle to marry him. We spent the next two weeks celebrating our engagement in Kauai, Maui and Oahu.
