James Monroe's Highland
Fun fact: Amy's first museum job was at James Monroe's Highland! While it has certainly changed, for the better, if you have time, be sure to stop by for a visit.
Carter Mountain Orchard and Country Store
A very nice place to visit for views of Charlottesville. Dan and Amy have enjoyed an apple cider donut or two from atop this mountain.
The Lawn
Enjoy a walk around The Lawn at the University of Virginia!
Thomas Jefferson's Monticello
If you like history, architecture, and/or gardens, be sure to check out this local landmark.
The Highlands Golf Park
Pirate Pete's mini-golf course is slightly challenging, but fun!
Blue Mountain Brewery
One of Amy's favorite local places outside of Charlottesville, great views, good brews. It's also the place where Amy first introduced Dan to her mom.
Veritas Vineyards and Winery
The area is home to so many wineries (breweries too!), but this is one of Amy's favorites.
Eastwood Farm and Winery
Another great local winery (closer to town) with great views and a restful vibe.
The Fralin Museum of Art at the University of Virginia
Amy admits that she has not been back here since Halloween in 6th grade, when she was dressed as a reindeer and the bells were annoying to the docent...
Blue Ridge Tunnel Trail, East Trailhead
A fun place to walk (when it's hot out) through a former railroad tunnel!
McIntire Playground/Park
A childhood favorite of Amy's!
