While working a chaotic emergency room shift at their hospital in Royal Oak Michigan, a casual bump soon blossomed into a friendship. Aham at the time was a second year medical resident while Crystal was just finishing her nursing degree. As their friendship continued to bloom, Aham finally asked Crystal on a date. Not an easy task for the two busy birds, but Crystal could not resist and Aham was not taking no for an answer. The first date was on! Aham was excited to show off his culinary skill by breaking out with his legendary baked Salmon with Jellof rice dish and it was a hit with Crystal. “This was pretty darn good!” she exclaimed. Dinner was followed by a comedy show outing and the night ended watching the 4th of July fireworks at the Park. Crystal recalls musing over this date upon arriving home, and proclaimed “This is the man I will marry one day”. Eight years later, these two have been inseparable.

What seemingly began as an ordinary gathering with close friends at home turned out to be a very memorable evening. While celebrating game night festivities, Crystal was elated to see Aham extending a congratulatory speech having recently graduated from Nurse Anesthesia school. Upon realizing Aham’s speech was concluding, she was shocked to see the formerly standing Aham now kneeling with an unfamiliar blue box in his hands. Bursting into tears and in complete disbelief, Crystal responded with a resounding “YES!”. The rest of that evening was filled with celebratory singing, dancing and even more congratulatory speeches from close friends. A special evening to never forgot.

Crystal and Aham are originally from Michigan and moved down to Atlanta, Georgia in 2016. They have been inseparable for the past eight years. Crystal is the eldest of her siblings, and Aham is the third eldest of his siblings. Aham was born in Nigeria and is often referred to as a “Naija Boy” in the most authentic Nigerian accent possible. Crystal is a Detroit native and recently received her Doctorate in Nurse Anesthesia from Emory University. Aham received his Doctorate in Medicine from Morehouse School of Medicine. They both share a passion for traveling, exploring atlanta’s culinary offerings, enjoying the company of friends and family, and being parents to their precious baby boy, Ahamefula III.
