It started in March of 2013…in a Syracuse frat house… in costume attire… but thankfully, they remained strangers. Over the years, they passed each other at parties, met up with friends at bars, and even followed each other on social media, but they remained strangers. Finally, in July of 2017, they somehow ended up at the same (J.Cole) concert. Jeremy had floor seats and Kristine sat in the nosebleeds. She commented on his instagram post, and he direct messaged her. After texting for weeks, they met. On one of the hottest days of the summer, they met at The Black Ant for brunch. Kristine was late, and Jeremy enjoyed drinks at the bar. They sat down and started to talk, Jeremy mentioned his family was from the Bronx, and she said me too. Brunch led to rooftop drinks, and drinks led to dinner. They spent the entire day together, and then they weren’t strangers anymore.
Only 2 months into dating, Kristine walked to pick up morning coffees for them and while waiting in line, received a text message with screenshots for a flight to Cartagena that Jeremy had booked moments earlier! After a week of excitement, it soon settled in that they had booked a 10 day vacation… that was 3 months away…after only dating for 2 months. When the time came, they went on vacation. They ate, danced, island hopped, zip lined, and even got food poisoning (in Santa Marta, a different city- don’t worry). This trip proved to Jeremy that he actually enjoyed Kristine’s presence (especially since he literally couldn’t speak to anyone else since he doesn’t speak Spanish), and Kristine learned that she must really like Jeremy since she was willing to stay indoors while he was sick, despite being steps away from a beach…and a good club. Cartagena showed them early on in their relationship that they could be each others forever. 6 years later, Jeremy continues to be invested in Kristine’s heritage (even though his Spanish remains limited to mocking Kristine’s mom and words about drinking). Kristine continues to stick it out for the whole “in sickness and in health” part but mostly the lots of tests/studying part. We hope you make meaningful memories in Cartagena the way we did on our first vacation. We cannot wait to get married in our favorite place with our favorite people!
