Nearest airports

Tampa (TPA), Sarasota (SRQ) or Fort Myers (RSW) are the closest airports. All will require car rental. Tampa is a 2 hour drive, Sarasota is 1 hr 20 minutes, and Ft Myers is also 1 hr 20 minutes. There is also a small regional airport in Punta Gorda, approximately 1 hour away. The Orlando (MCO) airport is approximately 3 hours away.

Travel on the island

The best way to travel on the island is by golf cart, with abundant cart paths all over the island. There is typically plenty of car parking available as well, if you drive over or rent a car. Please note that there is a $6 fee per car to cross the bridge onto the island. There are many golf cart rental agencies, but we recommend advance planning via Caddy Carts (www.caddy-carts.com) for the best prices - they will deliver to the island. On-island rentals can be accomplished through Gasparilla Adventures (gasparillaadventures.com) or Boca Grande Carts (www.bocagrandecarts.com).

A truly beautiful (but priced accordingly) old hotel and its cottages, which includes a stunning golf course. Very "old Florida." Rooms range between $265-$465.

The Innlet

The Innlet is approximately 10 minute golf cart ride from the center of town. It is the sister property to the Gasparilla Inn & Cottages. They are slightly less expensive at $170/night. They book up very quickly! If you are planning on bringing your boat, or renting a boat, the Innlet has rental slips.

AirBNB or VRBO

Please be careful when using AirBNB or VRBO as there are several other islands nearby. Be sure to book "Gasparilla Island" or "Boca Grande" and NOT LITTLE GASPARILLA ISLAND or PALM ISLAND!

The Boca Grande Resort & Hotel

The Boca Grande Resort is at the North end of the island. This means that it is 4 miles from town and 6 miles from the beach party and wedding, so if you are planning on renting a golf cart for on-island this is NOT the place you should stay. If you are driving it is a good bargain.

Sun Coast Inn

This is a great option and quite a bit cheaper because it is off the island. It is in Charlene's hometown of Englewood just across the bridge, and only a 20 minute drive. Rooms start at about $80 plus tax for a standard room and go up from there. This hotel has been recently remodeled and features in-room refrigerators and microwaves. It is also pet-friendly.
