Built in 1890, and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Museum & gift shop. Open Wed-Sat 10-4 and Sun 12-4. This is a special place for us as we will be getting married on the front porch of the lighthouse overlooking the Gulf of Mexico and the Boca Grande Pass.
*Accessible only by boat, Cayo Costa is one of the largest barrier islands in Florida. It contains unique vegetation that has gone unspoiled for the past 500 years. Ideal for swimming, shelling and fishing.
Separated from the mainland by Charlotte Harbor and Pine Island Sound, this island is part of a chain of Gulf Coast barrier islands. The island is popular for fishing for tarpon in Boca Grande pass, which separates Gasparilla and Cayo Costa islands. Each spring these giant fish, known also as "silver kings" migrate into the deep water pass, also known as the "Tarpon Capital of the World." One of the most beautiful beaches in Florida, this is a perfect place for sunset viewing. Also located in the park is the "Boca Grande Lighthouse Museum."
AKA "the Temp," this is our favorite special-occasion restaurant. The chef/owner is a high school classmate of Charlene's, and the seafood-based menu is outstanding. There is also an attached bar next door :-)
AKA "the Pink." Fantastic upstairs restaurant, and good times to be had at the downstairs pub and outdoor patio.
Fishing charters!! While tarpon season ends in September, there is plenty of outstanding backcountry/inshore fishing for snook, redfish and speckled trout to be had. There are also offshore charters, or evening trips to fish the Pass.
Kayak and SUP rentals. They can also arrange guided kayak or SUP tours, but if you are comfortable without a guide Charlene can tell you where to put-in your kayak or SUP. Feel free to tie that SUP onto your golf cart roof! They also do bike and golf cart rentals.
