Joe and I met through the dating app Hinge (though he hates to admit it). We decided to meet at the local dive bar for just one drink, but one drink turned into another and we ended up closing the bar down. Though we both regretted our over-consumption the next day, we realized we had something special. That something special has turned me into a Florida State fan, Joe into a Disney World fan, and brought us from Atlanta, to Tallahassee, DC, New York, and finally starting a new chapter together in North Carolina.
I should have guessed there was something fishy going on when Joe suggested we leave the Florida State gameday party early. We were in Asheville, NC, Joe's hometown, and were excited for the Biltmore Estate's Christmas Candlelight event on Saturday night. Joe was very excited to see the 'gardens in the day light' before we headed to the Biltmore winery. Joe was acting very antsy about 'finding the right place' so I 'could see the Biltmore a certain way.' We found the 'right path' on our second try and the view was phenomenal! But I was in someone's way (she was trying to take a photo of the house, and I was right in the middle of it) so I started walking away. Joe said "Wait!" and I turned around to see him on one knee, and he finished his sentence, "Will you marry me?" Turns out the lady behind us was a photographer Joe hired to take pictures of the proposal! So we were right in the middle of her shot for a reason.
