We will be attending prayer services at Temple Ohabei Shalom the Friday before our wedding. Anyone who is in town is free to join us, regardless of religion. IMPORTANT NOTE: Temple Ohabei Shalom requires all who attend in-person services to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, defined as having received the full primary series as well as all boosters that are available in your country. Masks will be required for service attendance.
10:30 am - 12:30 pm
This is the first official ceremony of the wedding weekend! An Aufruf (Yiddish for "calling-up") is a short pre-wedding ceremony that takes place during the Shabbat morning Torah-reading service. We will be invited up to receive an aliyah (i.e., say a blessing before and after a reading of the Torah). After this, it is customary to shower a couple with candies to represent the sweetness and joyousness of the occasion. IMPORTANT NOTE: Temple Ohabei Shalom requires all who attend in-person services to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, defined as having received the full primary series as well as all boosters that are available in your country. Masks will be required for service attendance.
