How We Met

From open mic to chuppah

Once upon a time in the picturesque town of Boulder, Colorado, the stars aligned and brought two like-minded spirits together. It was a chilly evening in March 2019 when Tzuria and Micha’el first crossed paths at License No. 1, a cozy and vibrant venue known for hosting open mic nights. As fate would have it, Micha’el, a gifted performer, was on stage that night, pouring his heart and soul into his music. Intrigued, Tzuria couldn't help but approach him after the show. As they began talking, they discovered an immediate connection – they were both Jewish, a rare and delightful coincidence in Boulder. This common ground sparked their curiosity, and they decided to keep in touch. Over the next few weeks, their paths crossed a few more times, and they exchanged messages, slowly getting to know one another. It wasn't until a Shabbaton – a special gathering to celebrate Shabbat – the week before Passover that their connection grew. They spent the entire weekend together laughing, connecting on a deeper level and sharing their love for their faith and heritages, nature, and the timeless works of Shakespeare. As the Shabbaton came to an end, Tzuria and Micha'el knew that they had stumbled upon something truly magical. The very first "date" they shared involved shopping for food to prepare a Pesach (Passover) seder meal, an experience that further solidified their bond. And ever since that fateful shopping trip and the Passover meals that followed, Tzuria and Micha’el have been inseparable. Their love has blossomed like the wildflowers of Colorado, along with their shared passion for nature, Judaism, and the arts. One of the most heartwarming aspects of their blossoming relationship was Tzuria's talent and passion for cooking. Drawing inspiration from her unique blend of Mexican and Jewish heritages, she crafted delectable dishes that delighted the senses and nourished the soul. Her culinary creations showcased her love for blending cultures, and her ability to combine diverse flavors and ingredients resulted in mouth-watering masterpieces. Early on, Tzuria's sumptuous meals would often bring Micha’el to tears, moved by the love and care she put into every dish. Another element of their connection was Tzuria's admiration for Micha'el's musical talents. She loved the enchanting melodies that filled their home. Micha'el's soothing voice and skillful guitar playing would reverberate throughout the rooms with an eclectic mix of Jewish music, folk, and rock n' roll. These soulful serenades became the soundtrack of their love story, and further strengthened their bond. Now, as they embark on the next chapter of their lives, Tzuria and Micha’el are thrilled to celebrate their love story and commitment to one another, surrounded by their closest friends and family. Their story is a testament to the bitachon / בטחון (optimistic trust), emunah / אמונה (faith) and hashgacha pratit / השגחה פרטית (divine providence) of finding someone who truly understands and accepts you for who you are, someone to laugh with, and someone who will show up to do “the work” every day. Together, they will continue to nurture the bond that began in a quaint little venue on that fateful night, cherishing every moment and memory as they walk hand in hand towards their lives as husband and wife.
