Flight
Several major airlines fly into Puerto Vallarta airport (PVR) including but not limited to: American, Alaskan, Delta, Frontier, United, and Virgin. After landing and going through customs, you’ll be bombarded by people trying to sell you tours, timeshares, and transportation. Politely say, “No Gracias” and keep on walking. The hotel is a 30 minute drive from the airport. You have a few options in terms of how to get from the airport to the Hyatt Ziva (covered below)
Travel Note
We've included the link to a reputable shuttle company in Puerto Vallarta that does airport transfers and has transparent pricing / booking options on their website. A car that can fit three people max will be just under $40 for a one way trip.
Travel Note
Taxis in Puerto Vallarta are not metered and instead you pay by zones (the hyatt ziva is in zone 2 for reference) If you want to take a taxi, be sure to ignore all the taxi scalpers approaching you after customs until you see the black and red sign/window saying “Taxi Autorizado” at the airport. There are currently three taxi companies authorized to pick up at the PVR airport. They are practically identical, so simply choose the one with the shortest line. Tell the attendant that you are heading to Hyatt Ziva in Zone 2. They will collect payment (credit cards accepted) and hand you two receipts. One copy is for you; the other is for the driver. Take the receipts and head outside to find the line of the company you chose. The cost for 3 max passengers in a sedan should be around $25. Getting around Puerto Vallarta via Uber is great and cheap! However, they ARE NOT authorized to pick up passengers at the airport, so this requires walking with your luggage outside of the airport. Exit the airport doors and walk left. At the end of the covered sidewalk, you will see a pedestrian bridge over the highway. Uber is all yours once you get on the other side of the bridge. Ubers ARE authorized to drop you off at the airport for your return journey.
