Andrea and Alex’s journey began at Nova Southeastern University, where Andrea was focused on her research and dreams of becoming a doctor and Alex focused on his baseball where he had earned a scholarship. They each had their own group of friends, but their paths crossed one night at a mutual friend’s party. Shortly after meeting, Alex left for Virginia to play summer ball, but they stayed in touch. When he returned, they had their first date at Olive Garden, and with time their connection deepened. Andrea started cheering Alex on at his baseball games, while Alex joined her in the library for study sessions. On September 28, 2012, they officially became a couple. After graduation, Andrea moved to Bradenton, FL, for her master’s and medical school, while Alex stayed in Miami to focus on work. They spent weekends traveling to see each other, making the distance work. One year before the pandemic, they moved in together, making the most of their time in isolation and growing even closer. When Andrea was accepted to Duke University for her Neurology residency, they relocated to North Carolina, where they’ve found a home they love. Through it all, Alex has been Andrea’s rock, just as she’s been his, as they’ve navigated life in a new state, built friendships, and continued to grow—both individually and as a couple. After all these years, they remain each other’s best friend and biggest supporter, excited for the future they’ll continue building together.
