Question

Where is Montvale?

Answer

The entrance to the Montvale Estate is on Montville's main street, very close to the town centre and just behind Altitude on Montville.

Question

Dress code?

Answer

Cocktail attire. Please note, the ceremony is outside in the sun, so will be warm. Reception is air conditioned.

Question

Do I need a visa?

Answer

Unless you are an Australian citizen, you will need a valid Australian visa to enter the country. New Zealand passport holders can apply for a visa upon arrival in the country. All other passport holders, regardless of age, must apply for a visa before leaving home. A tourist visa will cost $150 AUD and can take up to 35 days to process, so don't leave this until the last minute. You can apply for one here: https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/evisitor-651

Question

When to book flights?

Answer

Since March is outside of peak travel times to Australia, it is recommended securing flights 7-10 months prior if you want the best flight deal. (During peak times is 10-12 months, December to February).

Question

What's the weather like in Australia?

Answer

Due to Australia’s size, there are many different climates and weather patterns. On the Sunshine Coast, the weather should still be warm in March, an average high of 28°C (82°F), but will drop in temperature at night to 17°C (63°F). March is the tail end of the wet season, so not too many rainy days, about a 35% chance of rain for a wedding. Cross your fingers and toes for sunshine! In the Southern Hemisphere, the seasons are opposite to those in the Northern Hemisphere.

Question

How many hours will I gain/lose travelling to Australia?

Answer

The International Date Line crossing the Pacific Ocean changes the date by one day. If you cross the date line moving east, you subtract a day; if travelling west you add a day (with local variations). Travelling direct from Los Angeles or London to Australia you arrive two days later; travelling back, you arrive the same day you departed.

Question

What do I need to pack for a trip to Australia?

Answer

What clothes you pack will depend on where you visit and when. You’ll certainly need a swimsuit and a hat, and it’s a good idea to pack versatile layers, like a light jacket and jeans, so you can add or remove layers depending on the day. Make sure you check the weather while preparing your packing list.

Question

What kind of electrical plugs are used in Australia?

Answer

You may need an adapter in order to plug your appliances into the power sockets in Australia: the adapter required for Australia is Type 1 Australia plug. The plugs in Australia have two flat metal pins, forming an inverted ‘V’ shape, and occasionally a third pin in the centre. The electrical current in Australia is 220-240 volts, AC 50Hz.

Question

Can I use mobile data and Wi-Fi on my mobile phone in Australia?

Answer

Mobile data is available in most places in Australia – though you might not be able to access a signal in the outback. Your mobile plan may charge steep international roaming fees, so we recommend, if your phone is unlocked, that you pick up a prepaid Australian SIM card when you land, allowing you to make calls and access data at local prices. Free Wi-Fi is available in most hotels, cafés and restaurants.

Question

Is tipping customary in Australia?

Answer

Hotels and restaurants do not add service charges to your bill, and tipping is always your choice. In most venues tipping is not expected, though in upmarket restaurants, it is common to tip waiters 10 per cent of the bill for good service.

Question

What is the Australian tourist tax refund scheme?

Answer

Australian goods and services include a tax (that’s included in prices). Travellers may be able to refund the tax they pay on goods and services bought in Australia through the Tourist Refund Scheme. You do so at the airport upon your departure.

Question

How do I stay safe in Australia?

Answer

Australia is a very safe country to visit (even if you travel alone). Be sure to follow the health and safety advice, including water safety, wherever you go. Be cautious swimming at the beach, our currents and riptides can be strong.
