Things To Do in Erie
Presque Isle State Park
If you've never seen Lake Erie, this is the way to do it! This lovely state park offers 11 miles of beaches, a lighthouse, lagoons and an environmental center. A leisurely drive down the peninsula showcases the coastline, and you can stop and explore the beaches along the way. The Great Lakes are massive–you won't believe you're not looking at the ocean! It's a great way to spend a couple hours and see the natural beauty of Erie.
Sara's Restaurant
If you decide to check out Presque Isle, you'll drive by Sara's: a drive-thru, walk-in, Americana diner, with neon signs and Route 66 vibes. Grab some lunch or one of their famous milkshakes (they're so good), check out the retro decor, and head down the peninsula!
Purrista Cat Cafe
This place is relatively new to Erie, but they have nothing but rave reviews. The best part? You can hang out with cats waiting to be adopted ❤️ the atmosphere is relaxed with hanging plants and natural elements, and the cats lounge in a lovely, quiet room adjacent the front of the cafe, visible through an indoor window. They do their best to allow walk-ins, but they limit the number of people allowed in the cat room at one time, so they recommend calling ahead if you'd like to have coffee with the kitties. However, reservations are not needed to enjoy an artfully-crafted beverage (or a deliciously pastry) in the cafe.
