While Amanda and Seth would occasionally see each other in the hallways of their high school, it wasn’t until their home room enforced an alphabetical by last name seating chart that they actually talked to each other. As a McGuire and a McKinnon, Seth sat right behind Amanda. While he didn’t pull her pigtails to get her attention, they quickly realized they had several mutual friends and started to hang out. After several months of being good friends, Amanda kissed Seth at a Halloween Party. A week later, Seth asked her to be his girlfriend at a high school event, Coffee House, after slaying the stage with his one-time band the Flying Penguins. They continued to date throughout high school, though they only had one class together the entire time. After graduating high school, they decided they loved each other enough to try and make a long-distance relationship work. While Amanda went off to college in a different state, Seth continued to go to school and work in North Carolina. As Amanda became ready to graduate, they thought they would finally not be long-distance. However, Seth decided to pursue his dream of working with the Airforce with Amanda’s support, and he was shipped off to Texas for basic training and tech school. After 9 months of Seth being in Texas, he moved to Virginia and they were able to see each other every other weekend.

In August 2019, Amanda and Seth moved into their first apartment together in Alexandria, Virginia after seven years of dating. Seth worked as a contractor a Department of Homeland Security Component and with the Airforce Reserves, while Amanda worked at the Department of Homeland Security’s Headquarters, Starbucks, and went to school to obtain a certificate in National Security Studies. On November 3rd, 2019, Seth and Amanda decided to celebrate their eight-year anniversary the weekend before their actual anniversary. Amanda had to work that day, so Seth set up their balcony with twinkling lights, a beautiful bistro table with a white tablecloth, candles, and he cooked a delicious dinner. That night after dinner, Seth gave Amanda a card with the eight reasons why he loved her, and while she was reading it, he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. Amanda answered yes before his knees touched the ground. They look forward to tying the knot two weeks before their 10 year anniversary on October 23, 2021.
