In June 2017, Joe and Ashley met over beers in Belltown. Their first date lasted hours as they discovered that up to that point they had led almost parallel lives! Both had been living in the Bay Area for the past 12 years, frequenting the same establishments, enjoying the same activities, and at one point even living a couple of blocks away from each other! The commonalities felt endless. Ashley had been in Seattle for 1 year and Joe for 1 month when they met. They fell in love with the city as they did with one another, and the rest is history!

In December 2020, Joe suggested a weekend getaway to Ashley’s family’s beloved Mason Lake cabin. Being Ashley’s favorite place in the world, she happily and unquestioningly agreed. The temps were in the low 30s, the air was crisp, the sun was warm, and the lake was glass. It was the perfect day. Joe lined the dock with a gorgeous assortment of flowers. He walked her down to the edge of the dock, popped the question, and she excitedly said YES! Passerby kayakers shared the excitement of the moment, while Ashley and Joe have been celebrating ever since!
